SUIZAN Bypass Pruning Shears 8” - Professional.... These are very sharp. Time will tell if worth the price.

Excellent product. Very sharp and well built, it makes pruning easier. Clean cuts so less chance of damage to the plant. Feels good in your hand. The only negative from my perspective is the locking mechanism.

I can almost always count on Japanese garden tools to be well-designed and to have great blades. When I picked them up this morning to do some pruning I immediately noticed a difference from even my Felco pruners (sorry, Felco!). I have relatively small hands so these aren't too bulky yet have full-sized blades, and they cut through dead and live branches "like buttah". I haven't had to sharpen them yet.

Arrived well packaged. Excellent gripping for my smallish hand. Makes pruning bushes easy.

We run a natural fruit orchard, and I am out in the orchard every day, pruning, picking, etc. I had been using an older hand pruner, but it wasn't particularly high end, and it was not cutting crisply anymore. I went searching for a quality pruner, and looked at about a dozen, including domestic brands, many that are made in China, etc. I ran across this Suizan brand Japanese made bypass pruner. It had pretty good reviews, and was only about $30, so I tried it. Received it today, and i am VERY IMPRESSED with the comfort, quality of workmanship and materials, and the smoothness of operation. It felt like quality when I first picked it up. It has a 5/8" capacity, so it is not for large branches (on which we use a lopper or saw). It feels great in your hand, the handles are coated in something like a vinyl or rubberized material, and it has a nice steel closure (as opposed to most which have plastic or wire) on the end which is super easy to operate. I used it for a few hours today. The blade is super sharp. I will see how it holds its' edge, but so far, so good. You need to be careful with these. I actually nipped my finger a bit, but that was my fault. The spring on this pruner is heavy gauge steel. It operates flawlessly, and will be my daily companion in the orchard from now on. Japanese craftsmanship is legendary for a reason. You won't be disappointed in this purchase. If you are a casual user, you can get by with a cheaper pruner, but if you're serious or a professional, you can't afford NOT to spend the mere $30 to get this!

Pleased with the apparent quality of the shears. The material and design/size looks good for light pruning and trimming. However, will have to put them to use this season to know for sure but expect the tool to be so.

Better than Corona or other pruning shears. Well made. Nice colors, easy to find if you accidentally drop it on the field. Best of the best. Made in Japan.
