This appears to be a good check valve. The rubber fittings seem to be of good quality, and the spring-loaded flap works well upon testing it repeatedly. The plastic housing is stout and helpfully marked with direction of flow. Amazingly, the included instruction sheet is somewhat useful. I notice lots of check valves listed on Amazon that look virtually identical to this one and are priced anywhere from $5 to $10 less. I think the main difference between those and this one may be the quality of the Fernco-type fittings and the hose clamps. I would spend the extra for this one since those parts are so important.

The best part of this Green Living check valve is the clear body. Being able to visually confirm that the valve is working and water is flowing is a huge plus. Solid construction and easy installation too.

Nice check-valve. These valves are used in combination with your sump pump to prevent water that you've just pumped out from coming back down the pipe after the pump stops. You need to get one that matches your pipe size. This one is for 1-1/2 pipes and works just fine. There is a flow-arrow molded into the side of the clear plastic. You want to install it so the flow is going away from the pump. If you look at the clear section and think about it you'll figure it out. Water moving away from the pump pushes the valve open. When the pump stops pushing the valve closes so water can't get back. If you get it wrong then you're pump will run but no water will be getting out. I replaced my old one with this one and I noticed two things. 1. I could actually see the water being pumped out when the pump was on. This is good because sometimes when a sump pump fails it still makes a sound but no water is being pumped. Now I can see if the pump is working by seeing the water move. 2. This check-valve is quieter than the old one. I don't know if you can say it's silent but it's way more quiet than the old one.

I added this clear view backflow valve to my suction pump I use prospecting. The large clear flapper portion is great to give me an idea of what I am about to pump into my bucket from the bedrock. It allows a greater range of sizes through as well and I get advance notice if something gets stuck so I can clear it easily. It easily sucks up water and material and causing the valve so nothing is lost and redirects it to another check valve down a hose in to my collection bucket, which I then run through my sluice box. It seals quickly and efficiently with no back leakage. The house clamps made for a fast swap out and install. This item will fit sure allow me more pump usage which means more gold!!!!

Have 2 of these, one did have a pinhole leak but returned and got another one. These are sooooo quiet.

This sump pump check valve does its job, allows the flow of water to pass when the pump is on, and springs shut when the flow of water isn't enough to open the valve

I bought this valve as an emergency replacement for my present check valve. If I remember correctly, the last time a check valve malfunctioned I had water coming into the house and had to rush to a store to find a valve. I do not want to be in that situation again, so I purchased this valve. When you install a check valve you have to be certain you got it pointing the correct way. The pump may fail or the valve leak out its clamps if you get it wrong. This valve is transparent so you can easily see which way the flap opens. If that is not enough, the plastic housing has a FLOW arrow (see photo) molded into it. This is a very smart design! I am very happy with this valve.

Anyone that has a sub pump setup can appreciate this. Our old unit was falling to pieces and needed another valve as the old one rusted out. Nice quality and a perfect fit, easy to assemble.
