It isn't super functional. Pretty stiff and difficult to move pieces. More for a collector or a special gift. But my dad is a survivalist hiker and thought it was really unique and cool. Got it for him for Christmas.

It's nice for a small space as a working mechanical sculpture. Sure, it will never compete with a cell phone for accuracy or ease of use, but it's a nice looking curio. The stand came bent and it took a pair of pliers and some patience to get it to stand properly.
