The pictures are extremely disappointing and misleading. The actual length of the snare wires is about 3.5-4.0 inches. These are very small snare units.Save sending your money to China and find something else. These are really small and poorly made.

The order arrived, and the threads on one of the rods are badly stripped. I checked the nut that came with that set on the other rod, and it threaded without any issues. I tried to force the threads by screwing it back and forth multiple times in order for threads to self repair. Neither the rod nor the nut would adapt to the other. I think this is actually a testament to the quality of the alloy used, other than the threads on the rod being formed defectively.Another notable fact is that with repeated back and forth screwing it in and out to try and make it work, I expected the plastic knob to either break off or become separated from the rod. At times I was using a tremendous amount of pressure to screw it in and out of the nut. It didn’t become loose nor did it slip out on the inside.I know these are mass-produced and that quality control should not be assumed. Other than the threads, the robust nature of the metal is far above what I’d expect.I sent a message to the seller (Curve Saver) asking them if I should return it. I’ll update this review when the seller responds.

I know what a snare drum is supposed to sound like and knew it wouldn't be just like it, BUT I hoped It would have some sound. I mounted it many different ways side by side with little to no sound at all {on a block of wood that applies as much pressure or little as needed}. Decided to mount one on top of the other to be able to get some effect but really wouldn't call it a snare. Also need to be careful with the knobs as one of them now just spins on the bolt.
