We purchased a few of these for ourselves and to hand out as gifts. Great for BOB, purses, pockets and more to keep a fishing kit nearby. Just add a folded up piece of tinfoil and you're all set to go. Don't forget bait, but this kit has everything you need to go basic fishing. Highly recommend.

Let me start out with, I don't fish. I don't even like fish. I was making a "poo hits the fan" kinda bag and wanted something small, simple, and easy to fit into my bag. I'm fairly sure if it's me against the wild I'll learn to suck it up and eat a fish. Anyways, because of this I can't tell you if it's awesome compared to other tackle pieces or not. I can however tell you that the packing is good, the stuff looks and seems to be well made and all how it's supposed to be. It's simply meant to be another choice in food if something happens or if I give up on being a reasonable adult and just decided to hike away from the world. For what I need it, it does the job.

Yes do not puncture the liferaft ( LOL ), and yes the British Navy being on the oceans need relatively heavy sinkers. For us landlubbers I would suggest you throw in a couple of floating bobbers. All items can be procured at y'er local store. All in all a nice addition to any kit. Pine cones also float.

This product was not misrepresented at all!!! It looks just like the picture, it is about the size of an index card, it weighs next to nothing, It is a great size for my B.O.B., takes up minimum space and it comes with instructions. Like most survivalist/preppers, I will add a bit to it (split sinkers/smaller-barbed hooks/a cork or too???), and loose the things don't need (big weights???). I keep a spool of 25lb test in my bag so the line is not a problem.Alone it is not enough to survive on, but it will serve it's intended purpose. With a little practice you should be able to feed yourself. If you are looking for something mind blowing, this isn't it. If you are looking for a small, compact, easy to use fishing kit, that will need very little modification, this might very well be what you are looking for.I ordered one for wife's and my bag. It was delivered in a timely fashion and shipping was free. A good $20 bucks well spent.

First thing, I thought I had already written a review on this. According to the Wonderful World of Amazonia(tm), I haven't. Alas...As my review says, It's nothing to write home about. In fact, it's barely enough to write a review about. I think this is the first product I've bought that I'm having second thoughts about. Yeah, I'll keep it because I do have it and I bought it and the seller did not misrepresent themselves. I know I could have done a better job had I just gone to the local sporting goods store and put together a kit of my own.I'll say this, if it's a British Navy kit, it's PROBABLY for more for salt water than fresh. Unless the Royal Navy is floating up the Thames, Don or Dee, I don't believe they've much use for a fresh water Navy. (This comes from a career US Navy sailor who lived in the UK for five wonderfully misspent years in my late teens/early twenties courtesy of all you fine tax payers while I was on my first tour in the Navy. I digress...)I'll put this in my backpack and likely bulk it up with some smaller hooks appropriate to the areas in which I may hike. It's a good solid three. Nothing great, nothing horrid. It's just "there".

Hello, First off I would like to say that I am not a professional survivalist nor fisherman.I just recieved this product in the mail today, and have not tested any of the items. It was shipped well and arrived earlier than I was excpecting,1 day sooner than the minimum date they had originally estimated. It is shipped and sold from Survival Metrics.Included with the product was a code for 15 percent off my next purchase from Survival Metrics.I give 5 stars to Amazon and Survival Metrics for their acceptional service. The product was more compact than I had first expected,(roughly the size of an index card),but I am happy for that.It contains a beginners guide with instructions and tips for fishing with the item. The kit is all placed in a ziploc type bag.The kit is pretty much ready to use,but I am going to put some extra lures of different type and replace the sinker with ones of less weight, considering I have no fishing pole. I give the Item 4 stars, since I will need to replace the mentioned items. I do recomend this product,as it is what its titled, COMPACT SURVIVAL FISHING KIT
