I had three separate needs for this item. So I bought three of them.Up front, the bow seat sits a little too close to the front of the boat, so I was hoping that moving back 6 inched would give me the leg room to operate the foot control . AND IT DID.The mid seat is mounted to the side a bit, because the livewell door is right in the middle of the bench. I was hoping that the 6inch offset would move the seat towards the middle of the boat, while still allowing it to pivot out of the way to access the livewell. WHICH IT DID.And finally, the seat at the stern was mounted offset to the center of the boat, to offset the weight distribution of the middle seat and the tiller of the new motor is on the same side. SO, I was hoping that the 6inch offset would move the stern seat far enough over to facilitate the use of the outboard. AND IT DID!The offset post attachments worked splendidly for each purpose that I bought them for. Sitting in the driveway, I was delight to find that they were solid feeling, and that I could position myself in exactly the right spot in each seat. Perfect. Well worth the cost of admission, so to speak. So, why did I return them?Once we got on the lake, (and even maybe ON THE WAY to the lake) I could see that problem beginning to reveal itself. Once launched on the lake, which during the day is plagued with pleasure boaters, the problem was glaringly obvious. These offsets introduced a new--very easy to move--pivot point, that made our boat ride feel more like being on a Tilt-A-Whirl at the fair. Which is great fun, unless you are sitting about three feet above the water in a john boat, being flung back and forth on more than one axis. Especially when your Tilt-A-Whirl boat is even further influenced by the three 200 pound plus fisherman, flinging around on the now UNCONTROLLABLE seats with the new 6inch radius of swing that these offsets have introduced. It probably didn't help matters that I had applied a generous amount of white lithium grease to them, to help prevent the dreaded seat squeak, that sends fish scrambling away from your boat, anytime you spin to face a different direction. Turns out that was NOT a problem, as these seats never stopped moving long enough to introduce any friction. We lasted about ten minutes, before we removed them. Which--I feel--is quite the feat, considering that champion bull riders only have to go 8 seconds before they can dismount.I'm thinking that if the metals are the same on the offset and the extension pole, and your pole is threaded, you could probably screw the pole in tight, remove the plastic wear ring and WELD the offset where you want it, and it would work splendidly. But, unless you secure it in some way, be prepared for a ride.

Like the fact that it allows me a setback away from my trolling pedal and love the way I can move to adjust my casting angle and able to move freely

Good news is it is very strong. I am over 300 and it holds up fine. However be aware that when you install this your fishing seat now has TWO axis to rotate around......:) IT can be disorienting. I just wanted the extra leg room so locked mine in the rear most position with clamps, and it is fine....

I have a Lowe 17 FT bass boat. The front seat has always been too close to the trolling motor. The offset makes fishing much more enjoyable. Would recommend.

Have a few if these from as far back as 10 years and they still look great and function smoothly. Plus, you can remove them (and any vertical shaft made for them) easily to avoid theft of your seat.

My seat (mounted in the centerline of the boat) interfered with the operation of my tiller control so I mounted a second base to starboard (moving the gas tank to port) placing it close to the edge of the bench so that the swivel offset mount can be used with or without a pedestal extension which allows me to swing the seat further to starboard or back to the center. Have not tried it on the water yet.
