As others have mentioned, the irons base was much higher on the sides. Not only was it not just a ridge going around the iron, the whole base was concave. It took me about an hour to sand down flat and polish. The finish looks a lot better now than at delivery.Also, the two day guaranteed delivery took 14 days. Shipping notification was quick, so the delivery was probably a UPS problem and I didn't factor that in with the rating. The iron turns on and appears to hold temp well which is the reason I gave it a second star.Very disappointed in the Swix quality control and can't recommend this product.

I cannot believe that this is brand name item that they sell for $150. It is very crudly made junk ( like in China). It has a stamp "made in Italy".Either it is conterfeit or SWIX make poor quality items. I actually did not like other items from them (like wax vise) that also was expensive and crudly made.I've returned it with a disquast

I've ordered 2 of these and they're both not anywhere near being flat. *** Probably the single most important thing & when you order this you get the pleasure of buying sand paper, putting on a mask and stroking this thing for about 45 minutes. JUNK.

The temp control works well. To get a trickle of wax I just had to tilt the iron iron diagonally and there’s no waste. Very happy with this.

Bought the Iron 4 weeks ago, used is 5 times. It started to turn off intermittently while using the Iron. Now it turns off automatically every few seconds. Can not use the product any more. I looked up Swix Canada’s website and found out that they do not cover products that are not bought from authorized dealers. I tried contacting the seller on Amazon but he/she does not respond.DO NOT BUY . It will cost $50 more to buy direct from Swix but you will have a piece of mind as it comes with 2 yrs warranty.

Wow- the plate is thicker than the basic dial the temp version. Love the thick plate- took a minute to get use to from other iron but it heats up quick and stays at temp. Dosnt matter where the cords are on the iron always seem to catch if you are not paying attention. Put cord over shoulder and boom no issues. East to read digital temp. —-now we got the temp just right —-Next up will be a root brush to help make waxing faster!!

This iron is great for my skis. The thick baseplate holds consistent heat far an excellent wax job. I wish I would have spent a little more an a quality iron right out of the gate.

Great temperature control and ease of use with digital display. If you are using your moms clothing iron you have no idea what temperature you are at. Most waxes now needs specific temperatures for perfect application.

perfect for someone doing waxing at home or in a shop. thick baseplate holds the heat and the digital temperature control doesn't keep you guessing. takes a while to warm up but stays hot and is easy to use with a nice grip. highly recommend this over a less expensive model that will not hold the heat.
