Nice little JBOD enclosure! Mine came with some actually-nice-to-use trays. Plastic and easy to install/remove drives. The enclosure works great for cooling drives too - brings my enclosure drives down to 35C instead of 49C in my case. Power (blue) / Access (red) LEDs are easy to understand. One "issue" was that my drivers weren't updated on my eSATA card and it only recognized the first HDD. Driver update on my StarTech/Asmedia ASM1061 made the port multiplier work properly (as stated in their driver Readme).

Purchased this to make use of all my old HDDs from various PC builds over the years. It works right out of the box and is powered to allow for all the drives to work via USB. Each drive bay can be individually turned on or off and they are hot-swappable. Well designed and sturdy, I am very happy with the unit. Oh and note the drives snap right into their carriers unless 3.5" which need to be screwed in place (with the provided screws and screwdriver) There are no instructions provided but I am guessing if you are the kind of person who would make use of this, you don't need any. :)

This enclosure is fantastic and great for Plex users. In the past I've bought a couple of inexpensive 5 bay HDD enclosures for my Plex server and was always disappointed with the build quality and ability to cool the drives. This 8 bay Syba enclosure really exceeded my expectations for the price. It's well made and thought out, easy to set up, silent, keeps my drives cool, has mechanical power switches so the drives turn back on after a power outage, and though rated for 16TB, I have 20 TB drives installed and the entire drive is recognized. My only issue is once the drives are inserted it's very difficult to pull some of them out. Being USB 3.0, copies are not as fast as I'd like but that's the problem with USB and big files, not the enclosures fault. Highly recommend!

This is exactly as advertised, easy to use, and works perfectly. The parts are not cheap junk plastic, they're made quite well. The fan is quiet and moves enough air to keep drives at a proper temperature.I run it without any RAID so I can't comment on that, but I've had zero issues in the few weeks I've been using it. I have it connected to a server running Debian Linux and have put it through its paces, accessing all drives, read/write tests, etc. Real-world use it performs perfectly as well. The Windows utility is easy enough to use as well as straight-forward. The box includes a USB cable as well as an eSATA cable. The directions are clear enough, and simple enough to understand.Definitely happy with this purchase and will buy another when the time comes.

It looks great, but doesn't work with MacBook. I downloaded the software as instructed and it just doesn't load or do anything. I found a window that than latter suggested contacting the manufacturer as the software isn't compatible.

Similar - and more expensive - products won't work with Android boxes, but this one will. Easy to install and works perfectly, all HDs are viewed individually by the OS. I would be nice to have individual power buttons per HD, but that's a tiny detail. Noise level could be better but it's far from noisy. That little box is awesome

This is great value. As per other reviews here, I am astounded at the build quality and inclusions with this product. It comes with a couple of dozen little drive screws, which you would only need if you are installing 2.5 inch drives. And it comes with cables for both eSATA and USB 3.0, and they are not the usual short cables that come with drives - there is a little room to play here. I did not measure them but they are good. The POWER cord is only a couple of feet long, but it is a standard 3-prong IEC power cable! You can get one cheap anyplace you are, if you don't already have a couple of spares lying around. The RAID app is fun! I spent the day changing modes and testing speed. I've had RAID appliances before, but I'd never ever built a RAID, and it was pretty easy with the included software. I have to not that I used the software to set up my drives in it. I had an old Promise 6400 4-Bay enclosure from 2009 I think, and bay 4 was crapping out, so I took a chance on this Syba box to replace the failing Promise. I had the most recent 4x 5TB hard drives from that box, and a fifth 5TB drive I had as a spare, so in they went, and it's running fine on my Mac Mini 2012 running El Capitan. I am going in through eSATA into a Thunderbolt-to-eSATA dongle I had used with the Promise RAID. I'm currently running in RAID5. In every mode I was getting about 200MB/s up and down from this thing. It's a great box so far. If anything changes I will update this here review. Have a great day everyone!Update: a week into running this. The unit is fine, but the HW RAID Manager software for Mac now cannot see the enclosure, although the RAID volume does still mount perfectly on my desktop. I switched from eSATA to the USB connection to see if it helps, but it didn't change anything. I deleted the software management app as well as all of it's prefs and did a clean reinstall, and it still doesn't see the unit. It turned out that if I launch the application from my DOCK it won't see the drives, but if I launch the application from inside the Applications Folder the app operates correctly!! So do it that way, and all will be fine. The RAID Hardware is exceptionally well constructed, accessible, and runs very cool temperature-wise. I'm loving this thing!
