This was a great alternative to my usual Reed. It is a pretty decent quality when compared to my usual: vandorian. It's a durable replacement in a pinch.

No issues with fit and function. Not playing a ton, they've lasted us a good bit.I can't really tell much in sound quality, but we're pretty new to Sax.

Took some shaping, but then it worked pretty well. Great for high school students who don't change reeds often since these can be washed!

Got these for my Son's sax. He says they work great and hold up well. Easy to use and put on his sax with no alterations to sound quality.

So, for Reeds, often times reviews will be subjective as every saxophone player has differing embouchure strengths, mouth shapes, air strength, etc.Having said that, what is more important for a Reed is that it is well constructed and can work with set ups.For the Syos Arcane, these reeds are well-built.The non-filed cut makes it have more resistance than a filed cut. This Reed is excellent for a good "go between" classical and Jazz as this worked really well with my Classical and Jazz Mouthpieces. This will be harder to control if you play with a lip-out embouchure, but that's because I'm not used to that embouchure yet. I still play lip-in for jazz but just voice differently.

Lots of character to these reeds. Need to consider if your trying to find your signature sound. Good luck.

These aren't top of the line Vandoren reeds, but they work well. These were 2.0 but I feel like they are closer to a 2.25 compared to other brands.

So to caveat, I always do some preliminary reed treatment (which I'll detail below), but right out of the box, I don't think these needed even that. The 2.5s are on par with Rico/D'adario 2.5s and, atleast for my setup (an old beat up Bundy tenor from the 2010s and its original mouthpiece), they have a nice, smooth tone. For a lark I paired one with my Vandoren juazz mouthpiece for my alto, which really isn't ideal, but you can do it in a pinch, and, yep, they still sounded amazing. If you're looking to experiment with your setup, and you've already tried Rico and Vandoren, definitely give these a try and see what you think. Every musician's perceptions will be different (unless you're a classical saxophonist, in which case you have my sympathies) so your mileage may vary. Now, how I treat every new reed. It's pretty simple. I soak them in water for about 15 minutes, and before I ever pair them to a mouthpiece, I take an emory board (the ones I buy are exactly the width of an Alto/Tenor reed) and VERY GENTLY pull the reed across the board long ways a few times. If the reed is especially bad, you can do this more vigorously or more repititions (because a bad reed can only get better at that point!). But be gentle the first time. Your goal is to close the fibers, not remove them entirely, at least in the initial treatment. But, again, I doubt these even needed that much. Just a soak and regular playing in should suffice.
