I have been thinking of building a tablet holder similar to this one for a while. Mine would not have been as versatile as this one, however.It has excellent "reach" and the ability to hold even a large tablet stationary.I really like that the base is made from metal. And, is very well designed which gives it both strength and versatility. If only all such bases were made this well. What's more, the potential furniture contact areas are covered with adequately thick plastic padding material to protect the furniture's surfaces. The base can be configured to mount on horizontal or vertical surfaces which is a big plus.The device support arm is fairly typical but with several points of articulation: The lower end of the support arm rotates and hinges independently of the base. It also hinges in the center. The short, third section of the arm hinges relative to the middle section and the device clamp attaches to the third section via a ball mount which allows the mount to rotate and swivel independent of the support arm.One tip: The upper, third section has a knuckle at the end where the device clamp's ball-joint attaches. This knuckle was very stiff on the one I received. After the application of a small amount of machine oil, that joint loosened up enough to allow it to move about 45 degrees. Now, when coupled with the ball joint, the device can turn through a considerably wider arc.If this stand manages to 'stand' the test of time, it will be a real bargain. Make sure you have it securely attached at all points and move it slowly until you understand its limits of motion. I am really looking forward to using it to hold a tablet for use as both a TV screen and a second monitor for laptops.

Easy to set up and put to work. Holds the tablet and stays in place pretty well if you adjust all the tension knobs. Two thoughts. Would be better if the tablet clamps were a bit bigger (deeper). It holds my tablet with it's rugged cover but it easily pops out when adjusting the angle or swinging the arm. Also would be nice if the (tablet) end mounting rod would pivot to either side of the main spring mounted arms. There is a little pivot at the clamp ball mount but I want a deeper angle perpendicular and away from the arm at some times and can not achieve it. Bild is solid, hold is good, just a few tweaks would make it near perfect.
