Used these for a marshmallow war. Each bucket fits two bags of regular or mini marshmallows - or - one bag of giant marshmallows. They were absolutely perfect for this purpose. Since they don't have any lids, I covered them in plastic wrap with elastic in it, and it worked great.However, it was a rainy/misty day, and after a couple of hours the buckets were soggy. I don't think I would use them for ice.

Ice bucket on buffet table for a dance.First time we put the ice in it, it worked well. But throughout the night the bucket got weaker and weaker.
