Pretty sharp awl. I missed the target leather piece and shoved it through the edge of my thumb. That's healed up now and I did get the stitching done with stitcher. Yes, I did avoid sewing my thumb to the holster. OverAwl. . .a pretty useful tool. Be careful out there.

Seems fine, a bit expensive for for one needle. But everything by Tandy is expensive.

Perfect fit for the Tandy Leather Factory Lock Stitch Sewing Awl. The Awl comes with a bigger needle. if you want a smaller hole , you need to add this needle. I have used it a lot and it hasn't broken and stayed sharp.

They don't work for non Tandy Sewing Awls. I knew that when I purchased them. Another reviewer put them in a rotary tool and made the shaft thinner. This mkes a mess and takes a long time, but it works.

My Leather Factory Sewing Awl has helped me tackle some heavy-duty sewing projects very successfully. But there are some sewing jobs that are too delicate to use the heavy-duty waxed nylon thread and the large needle that comes with the Sewing Awl. For those jobs, a fine, yet strong, nylon upholstering thread and the Leather Factory Size 5, Fine, Sewing Awl Needle were perfect. It is easy to use, sharp enough to easily penetrate multiple layers of upholstering fabric, and small enough to let you use fine upholstering thread with the sewing awl to do exceptionally strong lock-stitches quickly and easily. Sometimes great things do come in small packages!

I purchased this needle to use with my standard sewing awl. The first thing you will note is the needle does not fit the awl. I finally got it to fit by placing the sharp part of the needle in a keyless chuck on a Dremmel tool and grinding down the shaft till it fit the shaft hole on the awl. Be careful, because if the needle becomes loose in the chuck you then have a very sharp object reaching out to touch someone. It should also be noted that the hole is for thread and is not sized to use with the waxed large thread that comes with the awl when you buy it. The thread needs to be high in tinsel strength, such as sail cloth thread, or other synthetic fiber thread which I use with it with good results. So, if you want to go through the task of grinding down the shaft on the needle you will end up with an easy to use one that punches through leather easy as pie, watch you fingers!
