Works fairly well. It seems to take a little more time to get the fire going compared to my old one. Maybe because of its height from bottom? Otherwise it works well

I purchased this item and received it. I did need to return it, only because the size was not right for my fireplace. This was a really quality made grate. I wish they had the size I needed for my fireplace, I definitely would have purchased this again in my size needed.

This grate is the perfect size. We also ordered the catch pan for under the grate. We are set to start that first fire to enjoy on one of these chilly nights. The grate is very well made, it will only be getting little to maderate use and so I expect it to last for years. Thank you for the great price.

We have been through one full winter season in Ohio with this grate. It exceeded our expectations. We are retired and burn wood for 2-4 hours every morning in the winter. Our old grate was burned up after years of service. This grate shows no signs of wear yet, and if we get 5 years out of it we'll be satisfied. For our particular fireplace it is perfect. We put a large log in front and stack the smaller burners behind it. As the smaller logs burn up the larger one degrades and we just move it farther in and replace it with avfresh large log and so forth. For this method of burning this grate works great.3/13/2017 - follow-up. 3 full season's of daily burns 2-4 hours from early November through mid April. A couple of the inner bars have warped and are degrading. I could use this grate a couple more years in spite of the degradation, but I already bought another one as a backup so I think we'll start using it next season. Still very happy with this grate.

Was quite happy when I first got this product. Six fires later - it melted. Now, the grate is sagging in the middle and must be replaced. Looks good, but a worthless workmanship.

This is a quality grate which I expect to last for years, however I was a little disappointed when it arrived because I had been looking for just the right shape for quite some time and this wasn't it. The picture in the description shows that it is made of square barstock (which I was looking for to match my other fireplace accessories). Infact, it is made of more of a diamond barstock. Most likely, Minuteman changed their supplier and didn't update the picture. Again, it's no deal-breaker, just be warned that it's not exactly as show in the picture.

This grate is heavy, heavy duty and has been is use for about 2 months. Even here in Fl. the temps can drop to 15-25 degrees for several days. There is no sagging of the grate or any signs of wear except for some paint peeling off due to high heat. We use this in a "0" clearance insert and it has provided draft assistance that we did not have with the OEM grate. Buy it you will appreciate the quality and durability.In addition, its shape allows for the logs to slide to the bottom center making adding fresh logs a breeze.
