First, it does provide a great way to still watch on phones and devices that don't support DP Alt mode.Battery pack holds a pretty solid charge, and was able to watch for quite some time, and as it's its own power supply, won't drain your phone or other device.Sound and brightness controls are right on the battery pack/adapter, so if you're wearing the glasses, you can just use these buttons, which are much nicer to use than the buttons on the glasses. The biggest downside however, which is something I think they should have made a better note of, is that the adapter does *not* support HDCP, meaning you can't watch most streaming services. Most of the big names like netflix, disney, amazon, etc, all use this as a form of protection for digital content, so if you're trying to watch on a device that doesn't support that, you might get audio but no video, or it might not even play at all.Things like youtube, twitch, and some other similar services don't use HDCP, so you can absolutely watch those, but if you're looking to watch your favorite shows on a major platform, don't bother. So if that big thing doesn't bother you, it's a solid way to use the Rayneo glasses on an otherwise unsupported device, however if you're looking to watch your shows on it, out of luck.

I only have this because it was free with the RayNeo Air2s device I purchased. I also purchased, based on some feedback from others on reddit and other sites, the "Viture USB-C to Glasses and Charging Adapter, Charge and Play, Switch, Steam Deck". I'll put my review for that device in the reviews for that device, but for this "adapter", all I can say is it's pure junk. While there is a built in battery, the battery does not work to charge a device unless the headset is also plugged in. But the problem is that the headset will not mirror if the crappy, buggy and what appears to need an overreaching list of permissions, app is installed and running. The app makes me feel like it's trying to screenscrape anything I'm typing/watching and seems inherently dangerous. The only features this device has that I was hoping to be able to use are the brightness and volume controls so I wouldn't have to try to find them on the side of the arms but with how poorly everything else works I'm not even concerned with using the small buttons on the glasses.

This is a pretty good solution for anyone who has a Pixel phone (or any other without display port over USB-C) who wants to use AR glasses. It works with other brand AR glasses as well (I tried with Viture's).Do note that you need to install an app on your phone that will cast your phone's screen. Both audio and video are casted. This is probably the most compact, least bulky, solution for connecting a phone without usb-c alt mode to AR glasses.I haven't tested the battery life on it yet. Though it does allow for passthrough charging. So you can connect a battery pack. That makes for now 3 different "bricks" though.Fortunately this device isn't heavy, but you are still stuck with 2 or 3 devices (depending on how long you need the battery to last) just to use AR glasses. Kinda defeats the purpose/convenience of AR glasses and their portability/lightweight...but this device does seem to work as advertised and is among your only solutions for this situation.Aside from the size here, the only drawback is the cost. This only serves to make AR glasses even more expensive for those without a compatible device. If this was about half the cost, it would make things better, but I'm sure the cost to manufacture the thing and niche market doesn't help here. AR glasses in general have a price to performance/convenience (or just "value") issue to solve. They are a bit stuck due to a few things out of their control and perhaps some things within their control.

For my S21 phone it seems to maintain the phone battery level when connected and using the Air 2 glasses. When connected the RayNeo XR software will not open as the 'Mirroring' app takes over. The phone is still displayed well in the Air 2 glasses so for me, it's just a phone screen extension without the XR environment. Fir the XR software environment, I just plug in the Air 2 directly to the S21 but then my phone battery will drain in about 90 minutes of use. Overall a good product for me.
