TDS is a brand from New York Barbell, everything that bears it's name is heavy, stable, reinforced, and durable. I purchased the TDS flat/incline bench from NYB and this rack [although ordered thru Amazon, it is shipped directly from their extensive warehouse in N.Y.] is consistent in craftsmanship and function. This rack will allow you to bench, squat, press, whatever...alone. That's right, you won't need a spot, because both the safety rods and the J hooks are heavy and solid! In fact, this rack is heavy and solid throughout, and doesn't take up much space. It's extremely affordable considering the quality. The packers, quality control, all exceptional!! Everything is carefully and meticulously packaged then boxed. Bolts, washers, etc., are in separate packaging, all w/count #, and carefully boxed. All steel parts, columns, etc., are wrapped individually, separate from each other, and arrive in two boxes. The boxes are heavy, you will be very impressed with how it's shipped, to unboxing/unwrapping, right on up to getting the rack built. [Very quickly using only a socket wrench and crescent wrench!] Bolt, then flat washer, thru the parts, then flat washer, then lock washer, and finally nut. This step, in exact order, is done 28 times, then rack is built! It is recommended that 2 persons assemble this rack, and that is for good reason. If you are careful, you understand, you make certain that parts are level at ALL times, you have a couple heavy, solid, objects in place to brace parts, [keeping things that were previously done level, while starting the next step,] you should be able to assemble this rack by yourself. OTHERWISE, GET ANOTHER PERSON TO HELP YOU. The 4 columns are long, also heavy...they must be kept straight/level while you advance thru the steps. I put it together alone, however, I had the columns resting upon a level heavy/sturdy surface. It is imperative to have everything straight, joined having no space between parts, while not fully tightening nuts/bolts. Only a couple turns! It's very important that you assemble the entire rack while it's laying flat. WHILE NOT FULLY TIGHTENING. The rack, once fully assembled, must be straight, sturdy, with no spaces between parts, BEFORE you start tightening everything down. Tighten from the base up, meaning rear cross bar, both upright bases, etc. Once ALL 28 bolts/nuts are tightened, [NOT OVER TIGHTENED] it will be time to stand the rack upright. Get it over to where you prefer, then GET RACK LEVEL. Check crossbar, braces, etc. Stabila manufactures precision levels that are magnetic. Great for this type stuff! Get the J hooks and safety rods on there. Well....Incredible is what you should say, because TDS is absolutely genius to create such a design, resulting in a very stable, durable, functionable, easy to use, convenient power rack that is by far worth it's weight. TDS is a name that's trusted and respected concerning power racks/benches as you will learn, provided you purchase this TDS power rack!

Just right. After a lot of agonizing research on racks, and my wife asking me "did you buy one yet?" I finally decided on the TDS power rack. My biggest concern was stability. Second was size. Third was options. I can say this rack meets all 3 of my concerns.Shipping form New York Barbell was speedy. Two boxes. The larger package was only slightly damaged which is all the fault of the delivery service. People who blame the seller for the condition the article arrives in are probably UPS or FEDEX drivers. ;-)There was one issue with a broken locking screw for the J hooks. One email to NYBB and I had a new one the next day. Superior customer service!Assembly-The only way it could have been easier is if it came assembled! It took me about 45 minutes by myself. All the nuts and bolts are the same size, no way you can screw it up.I've had it a couple weeks now and have run it through the gambit of exercises, bench press, squat, rack pulls etc.Stability-not an issue. Sure it shakes if you drop a significant weight on the safety bars (which I was using for my rack pulls) but in no way did I think it was falling apart. Claims 1000# capacity, I've had 400 in it and it was solid.Size-Just right for my situation. Plenty of room inside when squatting and benching. Overhead presses do need to be done outside of the cage due to its height but I knew that going in.Options-I purchased 2 plate holders that hook on the front or back. I prefer this to the flat holders that are built into the rack. Numerous types of dip bars, pull up bars and J hooks are available with this.Knurling on the pull up bar is good, not to rough or smooth.Did I mention NYBB threw in a FREE pair of leather lifting gloves? No? Well they did! I know, I know, "real men don't wear gloves". Well, when it's 45* in my garage that bar can feel quite chilly and the gloves are a necessity. Plus I'm a hand model and need to keep them looking gorgeous. OK I may have made that last part up....This rack is perfect FOR THE PRICE RANGE. Let's keep that in mind people. Compare apples to apples when researching. One thing I wish it had was a bar holder. Hey TDS add one to the front leg or back! And if you do, remember it was my idea!
