The super fine mist and slightly lower spray rate of the XR11002SS is perfect for maximum dark-green results with liquid iron when combined with a surfactant. If you don't have this fine of a tip, you can simply use a surfactant with liquid iron for much better overnight results, but a surfactant with the finest droplet size is even better! For my surfactant I use methylated seed oil at 1 tablespoon per 2 gallons and stir thoroughly and that works great with liquid iron... it really doesn't take much. DIY baby shampoo works ok as a surfactant, but it's probably not the best for the soil microbes to put bacteria killing soap on a lawn (all soap is antibacterial even if the bottle doesn't say it), and you're not even really saving money there when compared to the methylated seed oil.The use of a surfactant is most of the results, but a smaller droplet is that last 20% of color potential. Liquid iron without surfactant is maybe 50% of the results if you're lucky. The best online value for liquid iron I could find was Midnight 12-0-0 from the Lawn Whisperer, but if you can find a 2.5 gal jug at a local landscape supply, it will likely be much cheaper still. Horizon Distributors carries a good one (Feromec 15-0-0) for about 1/3 the cost and the results were amazing just like with midnight... that was an exciting find given how often I use it!As for must have TeeJet tips besides this one... for non-foliar applications like water soluble fertilizer or pre-emergent or biostimulants, Turbo TeeJet Induction Tips (Part#'s start with TTI......) are best because a much larger droplet size is ideal there to eliminate drift... I like the Turbo TeeJet Induction Tips better than the air induction (AIXR part numbers) for soil applications; it offers better droplet consistency and larger droplets. You can test droplet coarseness with hot water and check steam generation on a slightly cold morning... Turbo TeeJet Induction Tips are king for most products, but for liquid iron, this little yellow tip is the tits or the 03 or 04 also have decent drop size if you don't feel like making multiple passes. My sprayer recommendation if you're stil reading is as follows:My personal sprayer of choice is the Flowzone Cyclone...Home use recommendation: Flowzone Cyclone (better settings control than Typhoon and also cheaper... at CGI Turf it's about the same cost as other sprayers, and always nice to give Pete the business)Professional use recommendation: Flowzone Typhoon but only if PSI beyond 60 is needed... for most applications the Cyclone offers 2x the settings control by having the same number of settings with half the PSI range (AKA, better settings precision than the Typhoon)... for lawn use, in my experience 20-40PSI does everything I need so the Cyclone already offers more PSI than I need with far better pressure graduation than the more expensive Typhoon. After using Milwaukee and Field King sprayers I'm totally sold on FlowZone and I don't expect that I'll buy any other brand going forward except for glyphosate maybe.Happy spraying.
