Game changer. I work out of a small garage and this extension cord reel has helped minimize time spent plugging and unplugging. It's also reduced tripping hazards. The 12 gauge cord matches manufactured suggested capacities for all my power tools. An added bonus is the simple ceiling installation into a stud. The handle comes apart for simple installation and then the hose reel slides into the handle assembly with the other side of the handle then snapped in place to secure the hose reel to the handle. This took me less than 5 minutes. The hose reel moves to accommodate your position which allows you to easily pull the cord to your location. A quick tug sets the cord in place and there is also a stop mechanism. Great product and it's obvious a lot of thought went into its construction. The lighted outlet placement also enabled me to have a guide for parking my car. Thanks for providing this at a great price.

Poor quality, poor design. Mounting plate unusable - housing for hose prevents access to holes in plate. Screws that were provided very soft - heads easily stripped.

Bought this for my home garage shop. After installing it and using it I was impressed. This reel up cord is perfect. The retract mechanism feels firm and the cord is a good thickness. I mounted it on the ceiling to keep it out of the way. I would definitely recommend it…

This is a very nice and substantial cord reel. I bought the 45' version and hung it from my garage ceiling. I detail cars and need to bring power to vacuum cleaners and other devices in my driveway. My major complaint relates to the instruction sheet. Apparently, the wall/ceiling mounting bracket is shipped unassembled. Mine was attached to the cord reel and there was no explanation as to how it unlatches for mounting or to go portable. The bracket is black plastic and there is a black release button in the middle, which is not evident when attached to the cord reel. I got lucky and found it.

I decided I needed cord reel so I could quit having to uncoil and re-coil power cables every time I needed to use some power tool in my shop or immediately outside it. I purchased this hoping I could hang it in an out-of-the-way location in my storage shed that doubles as a small workshop.Installation of the cord reel was pretty easy. I decided that I did not want to do a wall mount. I wanted to hang it from the rafter, but since it was a 2x4, I would have had to mount it on the side. Instead, I cut a pice of 1x6 about 12" long, then attached it to the 2" underside of the rafter. I marked, then pre-drilled the holes for the bracket (See note below about the bracket since it took me a minute to figure out how to get the reel off, then back on the bracket). I attached the base of the bracket, slid the reel mounting "knob" into one side, then slid the other bracket half into place. Voila! It worked! The bracket itself 2 pieces that slide apart. There is a tab in the center that needs to be depressed to detach them. Turn the reel 90 degrees to the side to access the center tab.I tested the pull and retraction a few times and so far it works well. I also like the fact that the 3-plug end has a power indicator light inside it so you know that it has juice. The reel is mostly plastic, so we shall see how long it lasts. I will come back after I give it some time and update this review. For an inexpensive option, I recommend this.EDIT: I removed 1 star because I found that you have to pull a decent amount of cord from the reel before it catches. If you do not pull enough, it just rolls back up into the reel. Kind of lame when you only need about 5 ft of cable. Still like it, though.
