Overall they are very hard to put on. The instructions aren’t accurate and the videos connected to this Amazon listing aren’t accurate at all. We put them on based on the instructions and drove 10 meters and they fell off, so we go someone to help us put it on and they followed the instructions and put in on the same way. We drove another 10 m and they fell off awful and not well designed

I owned a set of Thule/Konig XG12 Pros for a previous car and I loved them. They were the easiest set I had ever used, installed and tensioned perfectly and they worked well. After I got the Model Y I wanted to get a set to have in case we head up to the mountains and not wait till the last moment but I didn't want to pay the $300 or so to have a set sit in the garage for a trip I have not planned yet. I also try not to drive in severe conditions that needs chains so even for all the years I owned the XG12 set, I used them maybe 2 or 3 times. When I saw this set that retails for less than half of the XG12 Pros set, I thought that would be a great way to have a set around. I tried installing them and they are similar to the XG12 Pros so I had no trouble putting it on. This set was not as easy to tension as the XG12 Pros set so I would recommend you really stop and check for proper tension before heading off. I have installed the set on my Model Y with 19" Geminis but have not driven them in snow yet. They look like they should do the job as long as you have them installed and tensioned properly. One major issue that I can see is that there is a significant chance that that these chains will cause some damage to your rims. The instructions suggest you remove the covers but from what I can see the bare metal chains that wraps over onto the rim will surely scratch as the chains shift and move as you drive on them. The XG12 Pros have little plastic pins that keep the chains from coming in direct contact with the tire and rim which this set does not have. You can see from the listing phots that the chain runs right over the tires and over the lip of the rim.I will keep these chains and use them if I HAVE to because some scuffed up rims are still better than towing your car out of a ditch. If I end up using them frequently, I will probably invest in the XG12 Pros set because they still install a little easier and are much easier to tension. With this set at this lower price point (especially since they are made for Teslas that do not have cheap wheels or steel rims) they really should have added the little details to help protect the rims a little more but if you're like me and not planning on using them all the time and more for having them as an insurance policy to the price gouging on the side of the highway then this is a good set to have.

I was a bit reticent about using chains on my Model Y for fear the chains would scratch the rims. But, there are times I need the traction that only a chain can provide when driving on Colorado's icy roads. These chains are built very well. A lot tougher than I'd expect considering they are fairly light weight. And, they do no scratch my rims. They are pretty easy to install. I was skeptical even after watching the video in the listing, but the time came to install these for the first time the other day and it was just as easy as the video demonstrated. And, removing them is just as simple. The tightening/locking mechanism is pretty clever. These are not intended for high speed driving so keep that in mind. And, make sure you get the size that fits your tires. The price is a bit high if you are buying standard chains for a typical tire, but Telsa tires are not typical so I think the price lines up nicely for specialized chains.

First time using snow chains! I just moved to LA and went to Tahoe and got caught in a storm. Some gentlemen helped me put them on, it was fairly simple (He did one, and showed me and I did the other). I had to drive really slow, but there was a lot of traffic on the mountain so it was fine. It sounded weird to me just because I've never driven on chains before, but they worked just fine. Really happy with them, and also dont have anything to compare to.

Used these once on a model Y this winter. One of the two chains never stabilized on the tire on its own as advertised and had to be adjusted multiple times, eventually falling off the wheel while driving. Thank fully we were in a low snow situation and could ride it out without chains at a low speed. Will not trust them for protecting passengers in peak winter and deeper snow conditions.

I bought this Tesla Model Y Snow Chains, to use as a backup, because it hasn’t snowed here yet. These snow chains look very good in quality, the locks are very secure, the chains are very sturdy, and they can provide very good traction. The installation is also very simple, you just need to put the snow chains on the tires, and then press the auto-lock, and they will be fixed. The size is also very suitable, and it can fit the 19-inch and 20-inch tires of the Model Y2. I think these snow chains are a very practical Tesla accessory, which can let me drive safely in the snow, and I look forward to trying them next time it snows.
