Frequency Range
THE ACME 576 Shepherds Whistle for Dog Training is specifically designed to be able to create a crescendo of sound to effectively communicate with dogs. Dogs have a wider range of hearing compared to humans, and they can detect sounds at higher frequencies. While humans typically hear sounds in the range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, dogs can hear sounds up to around 65,000 Hz or higher.

How to use THE ACME 576 Shepherds Lip Whistle
1. Place whistle in mouth with the curved open edge facing outwards resting on your tongue. 2. Hold in the mouth in such a way as to create a gap underneath the whistle. The back of the whistle will sit on the back of the tongue. 3. Blow and by varying the blow, you will create different sounds. 4. To create an even wider range of sounds, move the tongue up and down reducing and widening the gap underneath the whistle. N.B. If you place your tongue against the lower hole you will silence the whistle. It doesn't matter which way up the whistle is placed. This whistle does require a few practice blows before you get a sound, but once one sound is achieved, it is plain sailing or whistling.

Our plastic sheepdog lip whistles are more lightweight, but they are also available in a nickel finish. These are called the ACME 575 Shepherds Whistle

Great item, looks well made. However only given a three because it’s extremely difficult to master. Definitely need plenty of patience and practice to get consistent whistle

What an absolute pain in the backside to learn but when you make your first tone after weeks of trying and watching countless YouTube videos it’s actually simple.I watched all these so called pro’s instruct on how to do it. Nothing. In the end it was some 12 year old in Oz that posted a 45 second video and bam. Got it.For me, curl the tongue down not up and back.

It seems just fine but I can't make it work. I may need a music lesson besides all that I can find on Youtube and 10 years of playing the flute.

Product came as described although there was no instructions (not sure if there was ment to be). Having owned one previously this was fine for me but could prove a big problem for first time users
