A little pricey and comes very dry and hydrophobic so you'll need some prep time. Other brands I use are ready to go right out of the bag but sometimes have uneven or inconsistent texture or debris. This stuff is pretty uniform but you'll probably need to add moisture before using.

I loved this!!! I’m getting it for a Crested gecko and I think it’ll love this substrate. It’s very soft and fluffy. Got it but wasn’t enough for my tank size, that was disappointing. But I filled it in with some left over coco fiber, and will cover the top with some more of this substrate. I will definitely buy again but maybe next time get the bigger size 😅

I decided to do some research with setting up my crested geckos terrariums and went to this vs regular eco earth. It's great! It holds moisture where it needs to for the plants and humidity. I will continue to use terra fauna fir any future crested geckos!

I got this for my bioactive gargoyle gecko enclosure and added the bioshot. I was worried that my springtails might not like it because I didn't see any charcoal in it, but the springtails are going nuts. My plants are also going bananas. I wouldn't be surprised if I've had it a little too wet as I'm figuring everything out and trying to get the humidity perfected, but it doesn't seem to be hurting anything. I think Josh's Frogs has a supply calculator for how much you need for your terrarium and that's what I used (even though their substrate is a bit different). I've had the bioactive up and running for about 6-7 weeks and everything is very happy. If I was doing it over, I'd probably do a smaller drainage layer and more substrate simply because I have a physical drain and I think the plants would have appreciated it. I also think adding something to the soil to improve drainage would have been good. Maybe some cork bark bits or something. The pothos is doing spectacular. The soil was holding too much moisture around the peperomia in the front. So, I pulled it out and surrounded it with large rocks to create more air/drainage near the roots and it's been perfect since. I have no complaints, and my springtails are living the dream.

Thanks Bio Dude! You got a great thing going! This stuff is the bomb. I followed the simple instructions, threw it all together, and now 5 months later the plants are thriving and the lizard is thrilled. No smells despite not cleaning anything. Seems all is doing as it should. The soil is teaming with critters. If you are putting together a bio active tank his products are a must.

We have ordered a few items from Bio Dude now. Delivery comes on time, and the item is as advertised. Sure, you can make your own mix or buy slighty cheaper options, but why risk that when you know this is mix that will work 100%.
