About this item

  • (inside dimensions 8 3/4" X 4 3/8" X 1 3/8")

Finally a monster box to handle a boat load of large files (streamers, poppers, saltwater patterns). The BuggerBarn has major capacity, but what makes the box is the unique material. The slots cut into the material really grip a hook. To load, simply back the hook into a slot and it is held securely. To remove, just back the hook out. No rips or tears like regular "foam". Fish it hard because it loves abuse. (inside dimensions 8 3/4" X 4 3/8" X 1 3/8")

This box feels a bit flimsy compared to other Cliff boxes I have purchased in the past. Its completely functional and I look forward to using it, the plastic just feels different.

Found this product trying to sort through the plethora of drop shipped fly gear, Cliff seemed like a real company with actual history.Pros:The foam is really effective where it is built well.Cons:The plastic is very cheap, like I’ve bought prefilled fly boxes on Amazon for half this price and they still work after two years of heavy use. The plastic on those, essentially free, boxes is much more sturdy. The latch is not sturdy nor is it easy to use in gloves. It’s the kind of mechanism you’d find on one of those cheap clear plastic tool boxes that come filled with picture hanging gear. (It just lightly clicks together) Very little confidence in it, especially after a season of UV light. The foam is great! When it’s working it is very effective but I feel like most of the design/budget went into this. Now I would’ve looked the other way on the latch and plastic if the foam worked. Unfortunately, what you end up getting is 20 slits across both sides. However, the foam isn’t actually cut uniformly. So you’ll have a situation where random sections of the lines are unusable without taking a razor to them.Summary:The plastic and latch are dollar store quality, the foam is great but is implemented in a wildly inconsistent manner. These three things combined can make it almost unusable, and asking $25 is ridiculous when most of the materials and all of the build is screwed up.Keep making them domestically though! Can’t complain about that.

Good simple fly box that holds the big stuff. i use it for big streamers, especially articulated. Self healing foam seems durable. some complain about trouble finding the seams but they hold well. i can find them with only a little effort. Gets the job done for me.

I had been looking for a solid fly box for my pike streamer flies and kept running into the issue of depth, especially with a "book-fold" system that closes in on itself, as I usually use flies with a 2/0 hook size that need a lot of head space. This was the only box that had enough depth where that wasn't an issue. It's a solid (very thick) plastic build, and the "self-healing" foam has put up with a ton of abuse in the few months that I've had it and it hardly shows. My only complaint is that the plastic clasp seems like it will be the first thing to fail, however I've dropped this box a few times and it hasn't cracked open. Plus- I have yet to find a better storage system for bigger pike flies. It's a little on the spendy side at $24, but given the size/depth, and the outer shell toughness and foam quality, it's worth the buy.

This box will hold a bunch of streamers comfortably and the foam is perfect. If you back your hooks in and out the foam will last forever too. I have two of these currently and will probably buy more!

I liked my first one so much I bought a second one for my freshwater buggers and streamers, perfect size and the foam really holds everything in place.

Terrific product. Silicone(?) insert is great and expected to be much more durable than the old foam inserts. Follow the directions to back in the hook and it works very well, especially for those of us who use barbless hooks. Big enough to hold articulated streamers in sizes 2,4,6. expensive but worth the cost.

Great product, does everything as advertised and looks sharp doing it. Appears super durable and like it will last quite some time. This from someone who used to fly fish 5 days a week and has fly fished for nearly a quarter of a century. Thanks Cliff! Keep up the good work.
