Foundry Staggered Shakes’ thick appearance and their dramatic look and feel evoke cedar split by woodsmen from an earlier era. Foundry shake siding holds its rich color, protected by a durable ASA cap. These siding panels offer the highest level of fire resistance, and toughness, it stands up to the elements, they never require any sanding, scraping, staining or painting. They should be installed over minimum sizes of 7/16" OSB board or 15/32" Plywood. Actual colors may vary from those represented on screen. Therefore, it is highly recommended to order The Foundry Traditional Color Swatch, if you are unsure of the color of siding you want to choose from. Controlling key way width at the lap. I have an elevator tower that had vinyl shakes and needed to match for another project. I ordered the color pieces (I highly recommend if you are matching). The install was not difficult as long as your wall is straight, and the starter course is level. If you are starting at ground level, be aware that it is difficult to hook the shake tab into the starter strip. The product has an insertion clip at the top of each shake, and the shake tab at the bottom, that slides into the insertion clip of the installed shake of the course below. My project was while the weather was in the 40's and the vinyl was difficult to manipulate. On the sunny side, the insertion clip could be bent out for easier installation (as well as the shake tab). It was definitely a "learn as you go" project; pay particular attention to the spacing recommendations and use the J-channel to hide the end of the row.

Looks great on our house. It was built in 1952 so nothing is exactly square anymore. Trust me this siding when installed correctly covers many little issues. We love it. Also modern builders supply has been great to work with.
