I’m glad I pushed myself to finish the book, because I almost didn’t. All of the characters were kind of crappy people in one way or the other. Definitely not healthy people that I would want to be friends with in real life. At least, in the end, the relationship between the two best friends was somewhat called out for being the emotionally manipulative, unhealthy relationship that it was. And the main character worked for redemption. So reading the book until the end was important to see this happen even though it got tough in the middle to still stick with these people.

Wow!! This book is really interesting, a very different story plot filled with suspense and twist. I love the high school drama romance series by Siera and she is amazingly talented in writing these. The meticulously crafted web of character roles, those big moments of emotional outbursts, the push and pull and tension, the thrill and suspense which almost stops your heart, the pain and joy you seem to absorb from the characters- it all makes it a really great book from truly gifted author!! Enjoy!

I like everything except her friend Skylar, I felt she was far too clingy and demanding. But aside from that the plot is great and I love how it ended.

I loved this book, it was really easy to get in to and even though some of the plot was obvious it was still a great read - sometimes you just want the angsty book to have a happy ending right! The main characters flowed and had good development, and the best friend can go to hell.Love me some queer fiction so this was right up my street, h.recommend!

Overall, this is a good book... It's VERY much "teenage romance/high school drama". The other books I've read by the author (Colorblind, Taking flight) also feature teenagers but unlike those, Ruining prom had me repeatedly wincing at the characters' immaturity. Which is not to say they don't feel real or that they don't face some very real problems. It's well-written and the story is solid; just not really my cup of tea. 3.5 stars from me.

Die Hauptperson Zoey ist in etwa genauso erbärmlich wie Valerie in Time It Right.

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Players and heartbreakers aren’t generally my go-to reads. But, Maley did a great job bringing the pressure cooker that is high school to life and all the crap that goes with it. I commend her for elevating what could’ve been a two dimensional and catty storyline to something much more complex and redeemable. I loved the characters, the journey we were taken on, and the dialogue was excellent. Well done.

Honestly, I was a little worried about reading this book due to it being a lesbian romance on top of it being a teen lead (senior in HS). There are very few lesbian novels that keep my attention as they stay pretty physical and lack the emotional complexity to keep it solid. Not with this one. Her writing style is beautiful and the characters have believable depth. It's what I look for in any romance novel. It has tricky friendships, rocky relationships, growth--more than any of that, it's a young woman coming into her own voice and trusting it. I'm looking forward to reading more of her books.

Full disclosure: I read this book through Kindle Unlimited. With that out of the way, this book is the polar opposite of Siera Maley's previous work "Time it Right." In that book, Valerie Marsh is uncertain of her sexuality and her developing feelings for another girl. In this work, Zoey has already fully embraced her sexuality and owns it throughout the story. To me, the most implausible element of this work is that Zoey is a high school student. She handles her challenges more like a woman in her late 20's than a senior in high school. This doesn't detract from the work too much, however, and it's not enough to knock off a star.Overall, this is a good read and if my eyes hadn't been all hurty, I would've finished it in one sitting.I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys complex characters or who likes convoluted revenge tales.Siera Maley fans will truly enjoy this book. It's her best book since her last book and she continues to advance her skills with every release.I am looking forward to her next work.

One of my favorite authors in this genre. Didn't love the storyline as much as some of her other books, and am very picky about giving 5 stars, but it was a great read. Love how she is able to pull you in and create a great story while/by keeping everything realistic. Would definitely recommend!

Yet another superbly written book from Siera Maley. It kept me hooked right up to the end, desperate to find out how it ends.Everything that happens, and all the characters, are so believable this could have almost been a true story.A lot of the characters seem to be quite unpleasant people, especially the two main characters, Zoey and Chelsea, but eventually you realise they are just teenagers, growing into adulthood, trying desperately not to get hurt and not to make any mistakes, but making them anyway and hurting themselves and other people along the way. Ultimately, they are just typical, normal human beings. The story seems all along to be heading to a real car crash of an ending, but, rest assured, this is a Siera Maley book, and she is an expert at happy endings, you will not be left disappointed at the end of this one.As always from this author, a truly excellent read.

I have loved every Siera Maley book I've read. This was an intricately plotted book with layered characterization, but most importantly, it's just fun. The book sucks you in and I was pretty much glued to my Kindle until I finished! I do hope that the author revisits these characters again further down the road.
