I have had a couple of axes, mauls and different sorts but let me tell you, I would recommend this too anyone who is a serious wood splitter. I am so excited to get out there every morning to split some wood. If your thinking of getting a different axe for splitting don't mess around with anything else get this one and it is easy to order on Amazon. The specification and ease of which it was made makes it easy to handle, use and operate. The quality and design is superb and the handle is just perfect for me so again I would highly, highly recommend it to anyone who is a serious would person who either burns for heat or goes out in the woods and obtains it for others.

It's an oversized hatchet that can actually split wood. Small and light enough to take on a canoe trip, heavy enough to do some decent damage. Love the flares on the head, super sharp and just a really good product.

Broke on first use. Used it in the proper fashion and did not hit the handle. Sending for refund if they'll do it . Less than 1 month old.

Almost perfect for me. At 6' 2" I would prefer a 36" handle, but 32" works fine. Absorbs shock way, WAY better than my previous splitter (detail about it below), and it holds an edge pretty well. I've got about 40 hours of use so far and haven't needed to sharpen (though I did anyway ... even more impressive results). I also used it once to drive a wedge. No issues, not even a scratch from hammering.Definitely would buy again. My previous splitter was a very inexpensive fiberglass-handled maul. The hammer-side "mushed" from pounding wedges (only used it for the wedge twice), it dulled noticeably within 5 minutes, and it transmitted a lot of shock (so much that on a knotty 2' dia log I split a couple months ago made my shoulder popped out of place, and my forearm *still* hasn't healed from the pounding).

Over-built splitting axe. I was skeptical about the metal overstrike plate, but it works quite well. This is a good middle ground between a maul and an axe.

Title says it all. One swing, axe handle split nearly the full length…well done Adler, really showing what German quality gives you lol

Exceeded my expectations. Penetrates well into seasoned oak. Holds its edge well. The weight and handling is perfect for me. Very pleased with purchase…

Update:The second axe that the seller sent is PERFECT!! It is very straight, and it splits wood like it is supposed to and without a big problem with it cutting thru wood easily.I am glad we sent the first one back, Hubby is happy with this axe and did some major splitting and bragged it up a lot.Very good axe, very good seller, listened to my complaint, refunded my money as soon as the item was shipped and when I ordered a new one, it also arrived quickly. Good seller, good Customer Service too.The Head on this Axe is crooked. You can notice it when you look down the "blade" part of it, and the whole head is crooked, no, not on the handle, the metal itself is crooked. How in the world does that happen? If they are a poured metal, then the mold itself it crooked and should be replaced.I need to contact the seller, but, have no clue as to how.UPDATE,I am in the process of returning this Axe. If the head is crooked, then the wood we are going to split may also come out crooked, or even worse, it could possibly cause injury or something.I did reorder another one, and I am hoping the second one will be straight.I just don't know how an Axe Head can be so crooked, and supposedly pass any inspection?????More when we receive the new one.UPDATE:I received the second axe today, it is very True and the Blade is very straight.I am glad we sent the first one back, and very happy with the second one we received today.
