Use them while trolling shad for stripers and trout and suckers for muskie. I have the 2 walleye boards, and the next two smaller sizes, I plan on getting the biggest Church board for trolling skippies. They're simple, easy to adjust. I don't worry how tight the clip is, because it's easy to unsnap it while fighting the fish. Usually by then, the fish has fought for a while and is tired. I'm using the smaller ones today to troll creek chubs. Dead calm cloudy day. Hope I see some action

Picture shows RIGHT starboard planer - they instead, sent me a Left one. I needed a Right one. In The Questions Asked area said they would send a RIGHT starboard one as pictured. Said if you wanted a left one, you'd have to order two. That is wrong obviously. Appears to be a toss up as to which you will get if you order one.The Ad shows two buttons - one would think one would be for a right and the other a left - no, they both show Right ones and say one button is for a RED Right one and the other a Multi-colored right one which is all wrong too. Church just makes a one color board - more an orange than a red and no multicolored ones at all. Color means nothing anyway - right and left means everything though. They need to clean up the ad. Poorly done.Still, these Church ones (Orange ones NOT yellow) are the best though as they use one clip and a pin. The Pin is easier and safer (holds way better) than the yellow competitors two clips style ones. Plus, the pin is much easier to deal with. Those two clip yellow kind are the kind that more often come off and someone finds along the shore. As for the flags - get the simple cheaper, 'just' flag kind. The expensive SPRING flag thing never really works, for walleye anyway. Walleye hit so light that the clips and spring flags never seem to work well, or at all really. A compete waste of money for me and they do fake hits more caused by waves.Instead, Double screw the simple one simple flag in (if you buy it) and that just gives you a little something more to watch and see if the board acts like it 'might' have a fish on.No matter what, the boards DO give you a 'spread' of untangled baits which give you more chances of hits. I do very much recommend them. However, if they really wanted to make them better, they would have one color for right ones and a different color for left ones and save a lot of possible confusion on the boat and in ordering them. Not a perfect world yet obviously. Have fun and catch a lot of tasty fish.

The Church Tackle The Walleye Board Planer Board was recommended by a friend, I am pleased with the board. I also have other brands and sizes, these work great for fast trolling (3.8 to 4.2 mph). The line clip has trouble holding on 20lb braided line, I wrap the line around the clip and no longer experience false releases. I love the pin design at the rear of the board, easy and fast to remove the line when landing a fish.

This board makes trolled plugs move more erratically and garner more strikes. Plus, I can pull more lines when I troll.
