I bought it due to price and just starting my small round bale operation. We make about 350~ round bales and year and had a tough stretch last year getting hay dry, so i bought this meter.Let me start with it works and is better than nothing. If price is a concern to you this will 100% give you the piece of mind your looking for. Ive had it for almost a year. It definitely feels cheap. My biggest complaint is if you are pushing it into a tight bale you have to be cautious because it will turn itself off with too much pressure from the handle. Not too big of a problem but one none the less. This spring i pulled it out and the batteries were dead. I replaced them with a reputable set and i cant get it to stay on with the battery cover on. No clue why, but regardless i use it without the battery cover on. Sometimes i have to play with the batteries to get it to turn on but it always does.At the end of the day i feel like it comes down to price and amount of use. Hesitant if you need one? Dont want to spend triple the money? Not going to use it often? This is the perfect probe for you. For my operation i will be upgrading next year to a reputable brand for the simple fact that we are making more bales now and we like to test every bale for that piece of mind.

Wereceived 300 bales of hay that wasn't dried properly. We didn't know that before we had put it in our barn loft. We were very concerned about mold causing a fire. This tool allowed us to check the bales and then decide if we could keep them. It was very easy to use.

I accepted a beautiful-lookin load of hay, only to find out, three days later when I put it out for the stock, that it had been baled sopping wet. I'll never unload hay again without checking the moisture content.
