I got these to update the vintage setup in a rowing shell. They're quite similar to the Concept2 footplates, so I figured they were worth a try. These are close enough to be useful, though missing a key feature that would be nice to have included. These plates don't come with the foot strap, so you'll have to buy or make that on your own. There also isn't a spot for the strap to mount, so you will have to improvise that. That missing feature aside, there are a few other small things that could be improved in these footplates.* The screw holes are consistently inconsistent in sizing - the bottom two screw holes are countersunk and the same. The top two are different sizes, and not countersunk for mounting. They're obviously poured from the same flawed mold, as both have the same problem in the same place. That can be overcome, but it's worth noting.* The plastic is a bit stiffer than the footplates I'm used to, so it'll be interesting to see how that plays out with time. The stiffness also makes adjusting the plates a little bit harder.* There is no tread across the spot where the ball of your foot is meant to sit. I may or may not add a bit of grip tape there. All told, these are a fairly solid offering if you're looking to refurbish a shell or rowing erg. There's just a little room for some improvements.

These worked amazing as an adaptable attachment on the row machine my husband just bought me for Christmas. Excellent purchase!
