About this item

  • High-performance, low-odor, water-based, marine-grade enamel paint provides a beautiful, extremely durable, smooth semi-gloss finish above the waterline on interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Self-priming paint can be applied directly to properly prepared fiberglass, wood, metal, and previously painted surfaces in good condition—whether oil-based or water-based. Elixir transforms not just the surface it's applied to, but it changes how you think about maintenance. Elixir is washable, easy to keep clean, and if it does get scratched, you can repair it easily. With a little prep work and a little Elixir applied to the affected area, the damage disappears.
  • Colorfast formula resists abrasion, scratches, and solvents. Easy to apply by tapered nylon or polyester bristle brush, high-density foam roller, or spray gun. With its excellent flow and leveling properties, just 2-3 even coats provide a beautiful semi-gloss finish, with no sanding needed between coats. To improve the finish and color depth, you can apply up to 5 coats in 1 day. For best results, we recommend sanding before final coat.
  • Fast-drying formula allows 1 hour recoat at 72°F, for quick return to service. Be prepared to work diligently, because the wet edge working time is 60-90 seconds at 72°F. Forgiving application, with great self-leveling properties. Use on interior and exterior surfaces, above the true waterline. Great for cabin ceilings, lazarettes, lockers, bulkheads, cabinets, walls, heads, galleys, doors, trim, drawers, hullsides, cabinsides, boottops, decks, and more.
  • Size: Quart. Colors: White, Oyster White, Flag Blue, Classic Whaler Blue, Sea Foam, Sea Green, Fire Red. Finish: Satin. Coverage: 80-100 sq. ft. per quart. Unique Pour Pak bag makes Elixir easy to pour and store. No harsh fumes, low VOCs, and easy soap & water cleanup.

TotalBoat Elixir provides long life for new surfaces and prolonged life for old ones, with a high-performance, marine-grade enamel formula that dries extremely fast, allows rapid recoating, quick return to service, and a smooth, beautiful, extremely durable semi-gloss finish for interior surfaces & exterior surfaces above the waterline. The cured finish is ultra hard yet flexible, preventing damage from abrasion, scratches, staining, solvent spills, and mildewing like traditional alkyd-based marine enamels do—but without their toxic fumes, high VOC levels, and messy cleanup.

This modern, self-priming, water-based enamel adheres directly to metal, fiberglass, and wood surfaces that are cleaned and prepped properly. Elixir can also be applied directly over previously painted surfaces in good condition—just prep and paint. No need to waste time and money on priming. No need to wait hours for it to dry, either—Elixir is ready to recoat in just 1 hour @ 72°F, so you can finish faster. This versatile, UV-stable, colorfast coating is great for exterior surfaces, including topsides, hullsides, cabinsides, cabintops, coamings, cockpits, decks, boottops, hardtops, wheelhouses, and more. It's also ideal for interior surfaces, such as cabin ceilings, headliners, heads, bulkheads, berths, galleys, lockers, lazarettes, doors, trim, and cabinetry.

No toxic fumes, low VOC content, and easy soap & water cleanup take the pain out of painting, making Elixir ideal for home use, too! Apply to trim, cabinets, doors, moldings, baseboards, shelves, and walls to make your home ship-shape quickly and easily. Do not allow any unused paint to freeze. Compare to Pettit EZ Cabin Coat, Interlux Premium Yacht Enamel, and Epifanes Yacht Enamel. TotalBoat Elixir is self-priming, extremely durable, repairable, easier to use, dries faster, and a better value. All TotalBoat products are made for boaters by boaters. We know what works and what doesn't. 100% made in the USA.

Great option for a 1968 13' Whaler classic project. It took five coats to cover properly but it goes on and dries very quick. Multiple coats per day.A few spots have lifted in heavy traffic areas but it could have been prep issues and/or the salt water environment. Easy enough and economical enough to slap a couple coats at the start of the next boating season!

I purchased this product because I figured it would be fully compatible with TotalBoat Halcyon varnish, which I was also using. (By the way, Halycon is a good product) You can see in my picture that even after FOUR coats of Elixir the substrate was still clearly visible. TotalBoat's tech support up to this point was great, and they previously advised me that no primer was needed, and I should use 2-3 coats of paint. But when I contacted them about the transparency I never got a response. I was clearly getting nowhere with this stuff, so I switched to a solid latex stain and got to almost fully opaque with just one coat.

Like most paints, and especially marine paint, prep is critical. It won’t adhere well if you don’t rough or prime the surface and clean meticulously before applying. Be prepared to

Everything they said it would be. Went on good, 1 qt covered the area indicated, looked good after it dried.

I am now on my second bag of Elixir white and am still learning about its' characteristics, butam quite impressed with the quality of the surface when rolled on with sponge roller.I took care to prep and wipe down all areas. But I have been going over older paints such as a light beige and a middle tan . Despite serious attention to mixing, this paint is translucent and is best applied over a white primer coat Not just a quick coat of itself. There simply is not enough Titanium white(or other white pigment) in this paint to guarantee full opacity. The pigment is also dramatically "cool" in cast which is to say in this case it is actually pale blue not for instance "Orca" white. In comparison to existing whites on the boat it is dramatically in the blue range. I often do adjustments to paints which range too far to cool or warm but this is dramatic and unusual. I am still impressed with the paint but think if you plan to use it, be aware of its eccentricities.

Beautiful flow and leveling. Wish it had a bit more titanium oxide so it would cover better....it takes about 4 to 6 coats to cover underlying color but finish is smooth as glass. Will continue to use this product.

I used this to paint the cabin ceiling of my J30.It covered evenly and I only needed 2 coats. Time will tell if it truly has the mildew resistance necessary for this application, but it was inexpensive, easy to apply and easy to clean up.
