It has a manual reset so equipment will not restart unsafely following a power interruption. This cord set has a three-prong National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) 5-15P plug to connect to grounded outlets and a single grounded NEMA 5-15R outlet for a tool or machinery. It has an impact-resistant case for durability and safety, a red LED indicator to inform users when the power is on, and test and reset buttons for periodic testing of the device. This GFCI power cord is suitable for use with heavy duty power tools and portable equipment on construction sites. Ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI) are used to monitor the amount of current going to and returning from equipment flowing through a circuit. If the flow is irregular, GFCIs interrupt the current. They help to prevent electrical fires and to reduce the risk of shock, burns, or electrocution. Designed to shut off power within 1/30th of a second, they are used with power tools, on construction sites, and near water sources in homes (kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms).

This extension cord feels heavy duty and well made. I feel safe that the gfci will work appropriately based on how sturdy the cord is. This one is in the garage. I will buy another for the back yard

I needed a GFCI with a short cord and this is it. It triggers wen there is a current leak and not otherwise. I am using it indoors so the rainproof feature is not important, now. Invariably it will be moved around and end up outside so the rainproof feature will be important then.

I bought this as I live on a lake and was working on the shoreline and just wanted that extra bit of protection when using some power tools. At the time, I did not have a GFCI outlet close by to plug into - so used this and plugged into a standard outlet. Worked well and did trip when one of my tools fell into some wet sand.
