This is a very responsive and clear sounding pickup. I use it for classical guitar and my sitar, and it has made my life as a performer so much easier. Noiseless even at high volume, and it's small and unassuming. Would order again

excellent, rich warm sound on a martin. Love it. Does not need a preamp but should use one as there is no vol/gain control.

As always, Barcus Berry fits the bill! I first used their "Insider" on a Martin Sigma guitar in the 1990s. This time I used the "Outsider" on an Appalachian dulcimer. Same results - GREAT! The photo is before I installed it.

if anything touches the cord you'll hear a loud noise, the same as if you were hitting a microphone with your hand. even the vibration of your instrument will be transmitted and distort your sound. good luck finding a way to keep it quiet, especially at your gig, not that you're going to sound very good with this pickup anyway. only things that work great on this pickup are the adhesive strips - which pulled the finish off of my 1970s martin baritone ukulele as i VERY CAREFULLY removed this piece of junk!!! do yourself a favor, look elsewhere!!
