We have a raccoon that has been visiting late at night and we were baffled on how to resolve protecting our trash cans. A big rock on it didn't work -- those guys are strong and smart.This latch lock ended up working great for our issue. It was extendable and we were able to hook it in the lip on the front and back of the trash can base. It can extend even further to the hooks in the middle front of the trash can but we are trying the top lip for now.When we want to put trash in -- the elastic band helps us to stretch it a little to unhook, use the trash can and then hook back up. A few seconds of extra effort but that is better than cleaning up the mess for sure.

I'm so glad I got these! I live in a really windy area. When I put my trashcans out, I wake up the next morning with everything blown all over the street. These have helped to prevent that tremendously. When the wind blows, these keep the lids strapped down so that nothing is blown outside of the container. I don't have animal issues, but I'm sure these would also be extremely beneficial for anyone struggling with animals getting into your can.
