This 5-port 10GbE runs warm but it’s silent in contrast to the 8-port model (which I also have). I have low concern about the device itself and heat generation but in an enclosed environment, the surrounding electronics may not like the heat generated by this device. Adding some external cooling may be helpful.

After almost 1 year uptime it is still working fine. Warm (not hot as mentioned by others) but it is placed in a good ventilated place.

Superior built, sturdy and much heavier than those 5port switches.Value for money for those looking to upgrade to 10G broadband

UPDATE: Aside from the design flaw, it has now started to lose connection about once a day requiring you to cycle the power. It's really unstable. I don't know if it's a heat related issue because it feels very hot. AVOID. Really disappointed in this productThe switch has no way to disable it's poorly implement tree. The loop detection breaks operation with devices. I a mesh wireless network with backhaul. When you plugin the satellite mesh device it immediately thinks there's a loop and both the input signal port and the port for the mesh device are in operable. So, basically you can't use several devices with this switch due to this awful design.

I bought this to replace an 8-port 10gpbs TRENDnet switch that had fans that were just too loud for bedroom use. This one is fanless, and thus dead silent. I'll just have to live with fewer ports.Caveat: you don't really know how reliable a switch is until you've had it for a few years and the ports start going bad one at a time. In general, I have good luck with TRENDnet switches (at least compared to cheaper consumer-grade switches), but I have not owned this long enough to have any clue how reliable it is.Also, I simply don't have the ability to do any kind of benchmarking on how it handles speed or having lots of traffic on multiple ports. All I can tell you for certain is that I have had zero connectivity issues with this device in the few weeks I've owned it. It is connected directly to my router, so every ounce of Internet traffic between my home devices and the outside world is going through this thing, although nothing in my house is really going to push this switch to its limits.

It works well with my 10G network and it is QUIET. Most 10G switches sound like a figher jet on steroids but this doesn't. Gets a little warm, but not extreme. I can sit beside it and not hear it. Wonderful.

Slightly bigger than I thought. Works perfectly right out of the box. I’m using cat 7e cable from Amazon basics.UPDATE: not sure whats going on, but no matter the settings, I can only seem to do ~400MBs (including with iperf). no idea if its switch related. i have intel x540-t2 NICs on both ends and my nas disk is NVME (fio reports 4100MBs read/write on the NAS itself)UPDATE: i bought some more expensive cat8 cables and there's no change. still capped at ~400MBs/3.2Gbps.

While my ASUS GT-AXE16000 home router has 2 x 10 GbE ports, I actually needed a total of four 10 GbE ports + 1 uplink to the router. Plugging in my Synology NAS, my Plex server, my video editing desktop, and another NAS was never easier. Every port configured at 10 GbE and I have phenomenal speeds.I set the MTU for all devices to 9,000 to minimize overhead and maximize throughput. Here's the results transferring a 33 GB file from my video editing desktop to the Synology NAS.Before1 GbE (Plex): 119 MBps2.5 GbE (my desktop): 235 MBpsNow10 GbE (Plex): 985 MBps10 Gbe (my dekstop): 985 MBps10 GbE unRaid NAS: 985 MBpsCouldn't ask for better than that! The built-in loop detection on this router is not compatible with multiple wired Eeros; it will disable each network ports with an Eero plugged into them at any time, due to detecting a momentary 'network loop' and killing the port before the Eeros can finish switching from wireless to wired backhaul. Use the S350 instead.

Had this switch for 6 months during which it worked perfectly fine. Fast forward last week and I started having a completely crippling experience with the home network where I could not even work at all. I had to disconnect every single device from the network with the exception of the 2 work computers so we could at least do some work, and even then connection was so-so. I have a 2.5G connection so this was pathetic. I blamed the router and ISP because this is an unmanaged switch, should have been a no brainer. However, during troubleshooting with the ISP, I noticed that if I was connected directly to the modem, speeds were fine. Directly connected to the router, when the next hop was directly the modem, it was fine. The issue only occurred when the path was through this switch. I tested then connecting through a replacement TP-Link switch I have (which I don't recommend either since its ports tend to die as soon as there is any sort of power failure in the home) and while on the TP-Link I had downstream speeds of 2.3Gbps. On the TRENDnet I had 40 Mbps. Interestingly, upstream speeds were perfectly fine at 2.3Gbps. Seems that somehow the downstream direction got messed up on this switch for at least one of the ports. This also came out of nowhere, since there weren't any particular events (power outages, lightning, etc). it just stopped working all of a sudden. Furthermore, when I had the issue with TPLink, that company replaced the switch and also absorbed the cost of shipping back the failed unit and the new unit as well. In the case of TRENDnet, they want you to cover shipping to them, of course tracked and insured. If their switch is going to last 6 months, and they are not going to absorb the cost of shipping their failed hw back to the garbage pile, I have to say that it is a worthless brand for expensive equipment. I will leave TRENDnet just for 50-dollar gear or less. Something I'm not going to miss too much. If shipping of failed units was absorbed by them, I would maybe reconsider them, but if I have to spend at least 30 USD every 6 months, I would rather spend that in a switch that will last through that instead of having to replace it over and over
