Trigger is junk… fit fine in my 89 merc 2 stroke but craps out at higher RPMs. Spend the extra money for an oem part. Worked fine at idle but when I took it out to use it it didn’t work when I ran it up, clearly missing. Wish I could get money back

Don't like to bad mouth people's products but I installed this Jet Trigger in my Merc 9.9 2 stroke as part of an update effort and proceded to change a switchbox and a stator. Consequently when I went to run engine it idled fine and I continued to retune the idle and high idle etc. When I went out to test motor started to misfire on acceleration and when that stopped it did not reach high end rpms.I ended up switching out the stator, no change. The switchbox no change. I checked the plugs and replacedI suspected misfire on lower cylinder due to wet carbon plug after repeated cleaning and test. Finally ordered new Trigger (Merc) and it fired up and ran perfectly with full power curve like a tiger....Notice a few people having this problem so I think Jet has either a design or production (QC?) problem . I will be reluctant to buy other parts from them till I hear confirmation the problem was found, acknowledged and procedures improved....back to work boys!

Salvaged an older non running engine with this. Well worth the cost.

My boat motor stopped running correctly and the first thing I did was buy this trigger. It didn’t fix the problem. I proceeded to replace spark plugs, spark plug wires, stator, both coils, the switch box, them I thought it may be fuel problems so I replaced the gas line, cleaned the filter and rebuilt the carburetor. Nothing helped. I started doing everything over again. Bought more coils and finally another trigger. It worked perfectly. Basically this trigger was bad from the factory and cost Me $300 in other parts and 4 months of trouble. I would pass on buying this one.

I had a customer bring me a 25 hp Mercury outboard. With a complaint that it seemed it would randomly misfire pretty bad. Through all my testing, I confirmed that his trigger was bad. I ordered this to replace it and ended up with a whole new set of problems. After 2500 RPM, the number two cylinder would misfire. I got the resistance values and testing values for this trigger and it tested just fine. Long story short, I wasted seven hours of my time testing and retesting everything on that motor that I couldn’t charge a customer for. finally decided to replace the trigger with a different brand and the motor ran just fine. Come to find out, this trigger was faulty and the cause of the problem. Lesson learned, just because it tests good and it looks good, doesn’t mean it is good. I sent this back for a refund and went with a better quality brand. I will not be buying anything from this company again.
