So I looked at multiple review sites and this roller always got the top score. I assumed it was the usual marketing conspiracy/create your own review sites scheme. I bought 5 cheaper rollers, one after the other, and finally bought this one. Save yourself and buy this one first. Amazon basics high density foam rollers are my second choice, they are the best for the money. This roller is far and away the best for my nightmare IT bands, back and neck. It is the perfect balance of the hard non compressible core with a perfect amount of foam/texture overlay. The only ? is durability, but I suspect it will hold up better than the pure foam ones.

I love, love, love my TriggerPoint GRID foam roller. I have a similar, less expensive, foam roller made of foam. The TriggerPoint is so much better. 1. It is harder. The hard plastic center allows it the pressure to really focus on your muscles. The softer exterior with is great. Now, I can't say if the channels are good or bad, since I love the hardness afforded by the hard plastic center. I've come to the point in which I use the softer foam roller when something is SUPER painful and then promote myself up to the TriggerPoint roller once I can easily breath again while rolling. It's totally worth having both types of rollers. For example, my IT Band is WICKED tight. I start with the lighter - standard foam roller and then once it feels worked out, I then go at my IT Band with the TriggerPoint and find other, deeper spots. I use the TriggerPoint after running & hiking.

Had this a year now and for me, this replaced most of the trips to see a sports massage therapist and it's kept some bad back issues in check. It also still looks in as new condition, despite almost daily use.I've had loads of muscles issues (who hasn't) over the years and have always baulked at the thought of paying £40+ per hour for a sports massage. Nevertheless I still paid it so it was with some hope I tried out this roller after my friend recommended it to me (funny how none of the sports therapists mentioned it!).I'm a total convert. I'm a 30 year old male weighing in at about 92kg and this thing beats me up like the most viscous massage can. Having tried a few rollers this one really stands out for it's strength, durability and 'comfort'. Lot's of rollers can be too easy to squash (this has a reinforced interior in the middle to help prevent that) or have an uncomfortable foam covering, but this one sits just right for me.The little knobbly bits are great for working areas like calfs and Achilles of even around the knee and quad heads (ouch!) whilst the flat areas are perfect for larger muscles like the lats or the really sore stuff like triceps or delts.Since using this I've not had a serious muscle pull or injury and I've managed to keep a long term back/shoulder issue in check. Actually, I've managed to basically cure the issues I was having so this thing really is an excellent tool for all round injury prevention/management. It works just as well for prevention as cure and a simple 10 minutes roll a day or every couple days in your known problem areas can keep you going for weeks, though I recommend a good rolling session once a week to keep in top shape.

I'm a huge foam roller guy - absolutely love them and use them religiously. Unfortunately they're expensive, barely last a year before they start getting soft and useless, and they're a pain to recycle (if you can even find a place that handles them). Enter the Grid 1.0 - it's definitely more firm than a typical foam roller, which might make using it too "painful" for some, but the flipside to that is it doesn't break down as easily. If you can handle the stiffness of it, it's a great product. Problem is the Grid is expensive and a little too small. The size does come in handy since you could pack it into a carry-on (a must for runners doing a marathon out of town), and the hollow core meant you could stuff it with items (like socks) so you didn't really lose that much space in your suitcase. But unfortunately the small size also meant that it was harder to use - it just felt more awkward rolling on this tiny thing than using a full-size foam roller. The Grid 2.0 fixes that - it's "normal" size, and I feel it's more enjoyable and satisfying to use than it's predecessor. You can hit hard to reach spots without constantly shifting the roller or yourself around like the 1.0. Also, call me crazy but I can actually feel the bumps on them this time - both this and the Grid 1.0 have 3 levels of foam "spikes" but you could barely tell the difference between them on the 1.0; here you can definitely feel the difference and the massage feels deeper because of it.The 2.0 used to cost a fortune, but the price seems to have dropped, so there's now no reason I'd not recommend it. (It's still the price of maybe 2 regular foam rollers but it'll last easily several times as long.) The 1.0 will still be my travel buddy, but the 2.0 will be my home roller from now on. Get em both!

This works very well. It's firm, well built, and durable. I do wish it was at least 36", but the quality of this product makes up for it. The surface is a very dense rubbery foam. While I currently use this on a carpet-covered floor, I've had no problems with animal hair or dust sticking to it nor has it ever gotten statically charged and have it turn into a magnet for such things. I've been very pleased with this! It's surface makes it comfortable to use, but at the same time it's extremely firm that it has effectively worked out my knots. The effect of the grooves on the surface is subtle, but it works! If you're wearing thick clothing (like fleece or sweats) you will most likely not feel the difference between a smooth foam roller and this one, but it will still work out those knots.
