For the most part this is plugged together and left in place, so the constant action of replugging is uncommon. This plug will do a fine job for this kind of usage, common to trolling motors, and functionality plus price earned it a good rating. This plug is adequate for most boating and related uses, assuming its #8 wire is sufficient, and the cost facilitates other detachable connections that may be convenient, such as shallow water anchors. Heavier duty and more costly plugs are available for those applications where a lot of plugging activity is expected.

Bought a Minn Kota 55lb 12 volt Terrova to replace my old Powerdrive. Old plugs were worn out, this was a perfect replacement. Will be using butt splice connectors for a clean install instead of crimp style connectors.

This trolling motor plug was easy to install on my boat with the included connectors. I already had 8 gauge wiring feeding my trolling motor so this is one of the few products that has 8 gauge instead of 10 gauge like most. Plug and base (male and female ends) connect securely and there is an included safety lock built into the female cover flap. The cover flap has a strong spring. I would recommend this product to anyone with 24/36 voltage trolling motors using high amperage.

PROS: Nice quality heavy-duty 8 gauge stranded copper wire, strong hold once connected, good spring protective cover latch, pre-stripped ends and includes crimp on connectors and mounting screws. CONS: Fairly short wires, crimp ons may not provide full water/weatherproofing without some serious shrink wrapping especially if using around salt water, connector pins aren't as robust as everything else, and although a good thing, the connection fit is so tight its hard to pull apart and disconnect. Overall great value and perfect for other uses such as RV and Vehicle connectors to fridges and power inverter's, and/or other high power draw devices. Power on!
