Ordered this for a 2002 Civic. Works well. Turns out I didn’t have to change this part, but only had to adjust the latching d-ring! I kept the part on.

This trunk latch does not keep the trunk closed. I can open the trunk with relative ease without even unlocking it. Also one bump on the road opens it as well.

It fixed the 14+ year old problem I had with my trunk not wanting to close and stay closed. I used to be the only "trunk whisperer" who could close it but now anyone can. It's still not as easy to close as a modern car, but what do you expect from a 2003 Civic with over 226,000 miles?!A note about installation: there are no instructions. It's pretty easy to figure out, but I would recommend removing the trunk latch actuator rod and installing it on the latch and re-threading it back through the trunk lid before bolting the new latch on. You'll know what I mean when you get to that point.
