if you want an out of the box axe...this is not for you....no edge as been set...like it came out of the forge...no grindinglines...both edge dull.very disapointed.

Good quality for the price. Handle finish is a little rough. I think it will smooth out with normal use. I would describe it as a poor varnish finish. Other than that, I am satified.

A lot of fun to play with but dulls quickly. Let me put it this way, if you split wood occasionally for the fireplace or when camping this ax is probably perfect for you. If you are starting a business that requires wood splitting you might want to go with Husqvarna. I rarely need to split wood, honestly I just wanted a double headed ax to use while camping because they look cool. The handle is very substantial, as is the whole ax honestly but the handle is made from solid hickory and it has a nice wedge that holds it all together. I have never worried about the head flying off or the handle splitting into a thousand pieces like with some. The head is easy to sharpen and for its size easy to wield. The reason I did not score it better is because of how quickly the blade is dulled. Something else worth mentioning is that it is a big heavy hunk of ax, it would not make a good gift for a child or small person. 3 1/2 pounds maybe does not sound like much but when you add the handle to that and actually start swinging it gets heavy quick.

I have been using axes for about 60 years. This is a quality product. The 3.5 lb. head is well balanced and drives true. Takes a keen edge and holds it. The 35" American hickory handle will last forever, if dressed with a little oil. I have gifted this item to a good young man who I'm sure will have it all his life.

Good axe I love it the wedge came out and the Handel snapped but I replaced it and I like the fill now but the head is good it chops throw hard wood

The Truper 30524 3-1/2-Pound Double Bit Michigan Axe, Hickory Handle, 35-Inch. Well made, heavy and sturdy, it'll do a good job of tree cutting or gathering wood for the fire. Could stand edges that are a bit sharper, so take it to someone for that.
