Item description is wrong. Supposed to be wooden handle but received fiberglass handle instead.

Truper makes this mattock with both wooden and fiberglass handles. This listing is for the wood handled version, but I received one with a fiberglass handle. The fiberglass version is usually listed for about $5 cheaper. Other than the wrong handle (which is a deal breaker for me) the mattock wasn't bad, although it arrives very dull and needs sharping. The 2.5 lb head weight also felt about right for swinging for awhile.

Tough little tool for chopping at and levering out roots. Also good for breaking up dry soil to help dig an irrigation trench. If you can't pre-moisten hard soil this is almost as good. Save your back and don't raise the Mattock too high.

I bought as my starter tool for trail maintenance. Getting it broken in on the home property clearing shrubby growth and small trees off a roadside embankment. Does a good job of cutting through the roots. Solid construction, yet easy enough to wield for my small frame.

I absolutely love this Mattock. I purchased it used in like new condition for a little over $18 from Amazon Marketplace. Arrived in two days thanks to my Prime membership and I put it to use right away. It made quick work out of getting two old stumps out of the ground and shredded into a beautiful pile of mulch. Both ends came in useful and at some points I found myself alternating strikes between the two ends. I initially felt that I needed a heavier tool but this was actually the perfect size. Worked with it all day till the sun went down. My hands, legs, back, and rear are all hurting this morning but my shoulders feel fine. It is well built and I feel that it will last for a very long time.I have never owned a tool like this and I really, really like it. A great stress reliever and quite a work out to boot. The price was right and I couldn't tell the difference between this one and a new one. Strongly recommended for anyone needing to work some tough ground or get a few old tree stumps out of the way on the cheep without beating up your shoulders too much.

Good Product. Light weight. Sturdy. Good Handle with guard [Will Need Handle Refinishing if you leave it outside]. Drop-forged China head of decent finished surface. Painted head. Truper quality tool - good, dependable, long service life. Good Value! If you need such a tool, it won't beat you up like a 5#er. Recommended.
