Light duty for smaller lights. It seems so many of the smaller COB lights don't come with light stand mounts so I found this to be a very useful purchase. It may be worth buying a few if you're doing a small multi-light setup. The adapter is for lighter lights, so it might be used with some of the many smaller 40W or 60W COB lights. With a maximum load of under 7 lbs, consider the total weight of the light and modifiers when using. The build is plastic but I found the locking mechanism strong enough for the specified load without it slipping or sagging. The base also includes a hole that can be used with an umbrella, which might be the way to go if you feel a modifier might impact load or stability. There's a quick release mechanism which allows you to remove the 1/4 mount leaving the top as a coldshoe mount. This certainly facilitates using a typical camera mount light as an accent light. The quick release plate sticks a bit, but I'd much prefer that to being too loose. It's sturdy enough to prevent accidental engagement. There's an included small Allen wrench that doesn't seem to serve a specific purpose with this, but may have a purpose for ancillary gear. While one might prefer a heavier duty metal adapter with a higher load capacity, there are so many light weight COB lights available that this is still a very useful piece of kit at a very good price.

One of the things I'm learning in my photography lighting journey is the need for versatility. I want to minimize the amount of gear I bring to a shoot so any gadget that serves multiple purposes is welcome. This adapter is made of good quality plastic and fits easily on a standard light stand (metal would be better but not unexpected at this price). It has a 1/4 inch screw that will work on a wide range of equipment, but the screw plate can be removed to reveal a hotshoe slot that will work with any speed lite. The plate fits rather snug so it takes a bit of force to remove it, but I would rather have it to be too tight than too loose. They also included an Allen wrench so you can tighten the plate to whatever device you want to put on the stand. I'll keep this adapter in my kit bag and I suspect I'll be finding many uses for it over time.

Great way to convert standard tripod to 1/4 in. I use this on my tripods and on my wall mounts and it works easily allowing great versatility. The piece is solid and well constructed with plastic and metal and has held up with 3 lb lights so far.

I recently picked up the ULANZI LA04 Light Stand Mount Adapter, and I have to say, it’s a game-changer for my setup. The universal 1/4" screw makes it super easy to attach different accessories like my camera, phone stand, and video light. I love the quick-release mounting plate—it’s incredibly convenient to swap out my gear without any hassle. The 180° tilt feature is another highlight, allowing me to adjust my lighting at just the right angle for my videos and photos. It fits perfectly on my ULANZI light stand, and the locking knob keeps everything secure without any wobbling. Despite being lightweight at only 100g, the build quality feels very solid and durable. I’ve taken it on the go for a few shoots, and it’s held up perfectly without adding extra bulk to my gear bag. The cold shoe mount is a nice touch, offering even more flexibility for adding accessories. Overall, this mount adapter is a fantastic addition to my equipment, and I highly recommend it to anyone needing a reliable and versatile mounting solution. Whether you’re a photographer, videographer, or content creator, this little tool will make a big difference!

As a non-professional photographer on a somewhat tight budget, I appreciate what the third-party market has to offer when looking for things like adapters, clamps, stands, mounts, etc. There is no need in my personal hobby to spend big money on the "big brand" hardware when these more affordable options function nearly the same. The big difference in these products is longevity. You can definitely tell the difference in build quality when comparing something like this to an item found on a film shoot. All that to say, this Ulanzi light stand adapter didn't quite hit the mark for me. I do own other small items from Ulanzi, Neewer, Smallrig, Amaran, Aputure, etc. Ulanzi is by far in last place as far as quality goes. They make this mount appear almost aluminum (or at the very least, high quality plastic) in the ad, but this is far from what you get when purchasing. It is more of a matted, heat pressed plastic mold that you can see the seam where the parts were fit together. I realize this is only a visual thing, but to me, it bugs me. One tumble onto a concrete surface and you can guarantee it will be scratched to heck, at the very least. More than likely, a part will snap out and you will be left with a semi-functional mount that you'll be worried to use with your gear. The hold is relatively strong, although don't put too much faith in the plastic knobs by overtightening. You'll have a bad time. The "quick release" plate is anything but that. I find that it snags on a plastic tab upon trying to release it and if you're not careful, you will end up snapping it right out.It does seem to hold light-duty items in place fairly well. So it's not a total disappointment. But there's something about how it feels to me that says it won't be in my kit very long.Overall, for the price, it's not a bad deal. But personally, I would rather pay a little bit more for an item of higher quality.
