My favorite tippet material. I fish a lot in real cold weather, just before the lake freezes. This tippet material holds up well to the occasional ice it cuts through. I have had better results than with 3 other tippet materials I’ve tried, for what I do anyways.I use the 5X for trout 2-5.5 lbs. I do retie my fly after every 5-6 fish or it’s likely to break where it goes through the eye of the hook, leaving the know intact. But I’ve had the same issue with the other brands of tippet materials I’ve tried.

Been using super flouro for years. Great stillwater subsurface leader/tippet material. Umpqua seems to have a higher strength to diameter ratio than most.

I gave the Phantom x Fluorocarbon 5x a shot due to difficulty finding Rio Tippet. The phantom is stiffer, and after landing a few fish the tippet kinks and coils. For most trout applications I think Rio is still far superior

First thing I noticed with this spool was the rubber retainer. It is durable and works better than the elastic band found on many other spools. I have noticed better knot strength with this tippet and have broken off fewer times since switching.

I haven't got to try it out yet, I was told by a Pro Guide this was better than the Rio I currently am using. Will leave more once I have tried it.
