  • 【Long Tube Upgraded Nuclear Radiation Detector】FNIRSI upgraded GC-01 Geiger Counter Nuclear Radiation Detector, built-in GM sensor, can detect gamma, beta and X-rays. Accumulative Dose Equivalent: 0.00 uSv-500.0 mSv. Energy Range: 48 KeV-1.5 MeV ≤ plus or minus 30% (for 137 Csγ)
  • 【Smart Alarm】Three modes: light/vibration/sound. The Geiger counter can set the current dose alarm value and the cumulative dose alarm value. Regardless of the sleep or active state, the radiation monitor will alarm when the detected radiation amount exceeds the alarm threshold.
  • 【Multifunctional Geiger Counter】Upgrade GC-01 geiger counter has other various setting, such as alarm setting, system clock setting. Easy one-handed operation
  • 【Working Principle】FNIRSI GC-01 radiation meter uses a trachea or small room as a probe to detect ionizing radiation gamma/Beta/X-ray. Radiation ionization generates ion pairs, ions are enlarged and converted into electrical pulse counts to measure
  • 【Wide Application 】Widely applied in the environment where existing ionize radiation. Such as home improvement radiation, geological survey, iron, Inspection vehicles, nuclear power plants, industry, radiology, radiology laboratories and so on

This unit comes in a well built housing. The size and features make it a convenient option for any person looking to be a little more prepared. Battery life seems great, and being rechargeable makes it a great option for off-grid setups.

I like this device, along with all of the other FNIRSI meters I own. It feels as well-built as the others. FNIRSI is an afford brand that appears to focus on compact and portable tools. Keeping that in mind, I think this detector functions well within it's designed limits. I used mine to check some glass to see if granny has the spicy kind and sure enough, she does. Or did rather. I think for a hobbyist or someone who wants one for fun, this tool will work well. I'm not going to say it wouldn't work in an emergency situation but if you are looking for your radiation detector to make sure you aren't being irradiated, it's probably too late anyways. I still would recommend this product to anyone who wants an entry level detector from a good company that makes solid products.

The Westobig store GC-01 Geiger counter radiation detector measures in at 7.7 x 4.6 x 1.7” and weighs in at about 8 Oz. It has a nice bright TFT display and includes a rechargeable 1100Mah lithium battery that charges in less than 2 hours. Specifications indicate it will detect gamma, beta, & X-rays and has a sensitivity of about 0.01 USv/h. You can also change the measurement ranges to : USv/h, UGy/h, mR/h, CPS, and CPM.The unit is easy to setup and you can select : Units, alarms, date/time, alerts and general items like brightness and language.I do not have calibrated radiation sources , but testing it with a very old radium watch hand and my marble counter top , the detector did increase the readings from ambient , and was very repeatable. ( see enclosed pixs )You can get both real-time and accumulation data on the screen as well as various graphs.Overall workmanship and quality of this product is very good, would have been a solid 5 star if sold with coupon or discount!

The measurement data is much lower than the reading of a calibrated model from another brand. The response speed is slow too.

This little device is a must have if you’re a medical professional that works around xray and radiation devices. I have measured the amount of radiation in the OR while xrays are in use, and you learn where not to stand to lower exposure rates. Awesome device.

I tested this against a couple other small handheld readers we have and it seemed to agree with them. Our problem with it was it's very slow to react to changes in environment. We use these to help quickly identify things like uranium glass or Fiestaware at antique shows. In that environment you really want a quick response. Also, it does not have a speaker on board to provide audible information. We'll often carry a reader in our hand at an antique market. If it starts clicking then we know we might be near something of interest. With this, it would require constantly looking at the screen which wouldn't help as its reaction time is slow enough that we'd already be past the items anyways.

If you’re a newb, this isn’t bad. If you’re a serious prepper or have seriously hazardous stuff to deal with on the regular, this is not for you. The built in battery is a huge downfall for the prepper category as it could be difficult to charge or replace compared to more common off the shelf battery options. As with most things there are pros and cons. The lack of a certificate for a ‘precision instrument’ is difficult to swallow. Don’t trust your life to it, that's for sure! Do your research on this specific device and see some of the downsides in the firmware and algorithm for how it measures what it detects. For playing around at home it’s pretty great to get your feet wet though. Less than sixty bucks for a good visual device is pretty nice. I really wish it had the click sounds, but there are some hacks to add it in if you are comfortable modifying electronics. It does vibrate, it does have alarm sounds, and it does flash and so forth though. Radioactivity tools are something I’m just getting into so I’m not an authority and to me it’s a let down not knowing if it truly passes a certification or not. I do not have the ability to fully test and evaluate it at this point to trust it with life. With that said, it’s far better than the other unit I got recently. This one actually has a properly mounted tube (the good tube) and the innards are not just slapped together all crooked and carelessly.
