My old one got overheated somehow and melted the metal contact into the plastic. The new one works just fine.

The sockets go bad after a while and this replacement solved the brake light failure on my 97 M3.

Turns out the contacts on this part aren't curved upwards like the OEM one, which ensures consistent and tight contact. I kept getting intermittent "1 Brake Light Fail", "Brake Lights Fail", and "Brake Light Circuit" messages. I can wiggle this socket around and get the circuit to connect, but it'll inevitably shift during driving and I'm back to square one. The socket could also hug the bulb a bit tighter, because sometimes they have a hard time "locking" into their spot without the little nubs slipping upwards. Annoying! Please fix these, because apart from that the quality seems good.

Looks identical to the OEM part. Used for the left rear turn signal bulb in my E53 X5. Much better fit than the 20 year old part. Now my indicator bulb has good connectivity and stops cutting out intermittently.Very happy.

Ends up having same problem as the original piece--overheated connector, eventually. Help!
