I am experienced with micro electronics projects; my soldering iron is not big, and I can be very gentle handling tiny components. But this is ridiculous. I have purchased four of these speakers -- 3 of them have had the terminals rip off the back of the housing making the speaker unusable. I am very, very carefully trying to install the fourth one without ripping off the terminals. I measured 8.1 ohms across the terminals which was before they tore off the back of the speaker. I am sure it would work fine if I could only connect my tiny (30 ga) wire to the terminals.

I used these with 3d-printed enclosures to add audio to a Raspberry Pi tablet. They have very nice clarity for the cost and plenty of volume with a 2W amplifier board.

What can I say I have a Escort Passport Max 2 that had a blown speaker and this speaker was an option that fit. Took me about 20 minutes to tear it apart, remove old speaker, remove wire and plug from old speaker, solder wires to new speaker, and assemble everything. Radar detector now works!!! No clue on how long speaker will last but I have and extra speaker just in case since this was a two pack.

Escort no longer services my radar detector, so this was a great find. Easy to install.

If you see the picture the old one is at the bottom. The new one (which is what I am reviewing) is at the top. I just put it in yesterday and it works like a charm! The only note is that you will need to remove the leads from the old, faulty speaker and solder them at the 2 contact points on the new speaker. This is MUCH easier than it sounds and takes only seconds. Either you will need a soldering gun (any cheap one will do) or have someone do it. This is the only part that was new to me. If this speaker dies quicker than expected I will update this review, but I am giving it 5 stars for now, especially since I got two of these for $10 - a great value. Now I have a back up for my beloved radar detector.

Th Escort Passport Max 2 is known for blowing it's speaker. I couldn't find an OE replacement, so I tried this out. The speaker matches the OE 8 Ohm 2 Watt speaker specs and size. It doesn't seem to be quite as loud, but it works.**I recommend epoxy on your Max 2 circuit board speaker plug before doing anything. This plug solder is weak and is known to break from normal driving vibration, and the smallest tug can break solder.
