I used this to repair a toaster oven door spring that was no longer available from the manufacturer or online parts sellers. This was much longer that the original spring, so it will last 'forever'. I just needed to use calipers on the original wire to determine the wire gauge, and they calculate the pull using a fish scale with a hook on it. Then I guesstimated the force and picked a spring that I could vary the length of in order to get the oven door to close 'like new'. After cutting to length, I used a heavy gauge paper clip to fasten the cut end to the back of the oven where the spring originally attached. Oven is now back in service and everyone is happy!

Not exactly the usual use for a spring, I admit. But one of our feline overlord frequently stores his toys for later by batting them under the fridge. There they remain until we notice his complaining and roll the fridge out to clear all the lost toys.I used zip ties to provide attachment points on the front leveler feet, and stretched the spring across. It is completely hidden from view, but close enough to the front that toys can't get batted out of reach.Stretched this far, the coils are open enough to not block airflow at all, and might even catch the occasional dust bunny and slow buildup of cat hair on the coils at the back.
