  • Thread Size: M16 x 1mm. High-speed steel metric taps are with high hardness and toughness for wear resistance, well suited for general purpose applications.
  • The thread tap can make new threads or re-thread damaged or jammed threads. Uncoated taps feature just the base substrate without any additional coatings, and fit a wide range of applications.
  • Suitable for processing through holes or shallow holes on most metals, iron plate, copper, zinc, alloy steel, abrasive steel, A3 steel, stainless steel, etc.. Add appropriate tapping oil for higher quality internal threads and more durable taps.
  • Straight flute design, rapid downward chip removal for efficient threading, clear threads without burrs, right hand tapping direction. Good for processing through holes or shallow holes
  • Machine taps used with drilling machines, tapping machines, automatic machines, machining centers, CNC, milling machines, not recommended for hand and electric drill tapping. Information

Taps can be divided into straight flute thread taps, spiral flute thread taps, spiral point thread taps and thread forming taps. Straight Flute Thread Taps

Straight flute design, downward chip removal, fast tapping with accuracy. Suitable for processing through holes or shallow blind holes.

Easy to Use

Used on drilling machines, tapping machines, CNC and milling machines. Use with tapping oil to get higher quality threads and more durable taps.

Coatings

Features just the base substrate without any additional coatings, suitable for wide ranges of applications.

High Speed Steel Taps

  • High hardness and strength, good toughness
  • Good wear resistance and heat resistance.
  • Good process performance.

Tips

  • Machine taps are suggested to be used with tap collets with overload protection. Hand use or electric drills use is easy to cause breakage to the tap, so it is not recommended.
  • Use with tapping oil to get higher quality thread and more durable taps. Cutting oil is lubrication, cooling and anti-sticking. Be sure to select the appropriate cutting oil for complex tapping process and apply anti-rust oil for maintenance after use.

I used this to thread a titanium bmx spindle, it worked effortlessly and I've got some nice clean cut threads.(previous bolt size was M8, I had to drill the hole bigger and re-tap, threads got messed up from someone not using the proper tool for removing 3pc cranks.)

Seems to be a good tap. Used it in hot rolled steel so not much of a challenge.

I am a former tool maker in the aircraft industry so I appreciate quality in a tool. One of the differences I noticed (after the obvious overall quality and feel of this tap) was, after inserting in the previously threaded hole, it aligned perfectly, even though the threads in those weld nuts were heavily rusted, having been exposed to all of the elements that come from 108,000 miles on the underside rear of a 22 year old Honda Odyssey (on which I was going to install a new Curt tow hitch). The tap ran perfectly, re-cutting those 5 holes until the threads looked like new. Starting those 12mm by 1.25 (fine thread) bolts and turning them down without a wrench, using only my fingers, is a testament to the quality of this tool. When I was finished, the threads on the tap were as sharp as when I first ran my fingers over them. It always pays to spend extra for quality. This tool is quality, resting, cleaned and lightly oiled, waiting for the next time it's called on to perform it's function of cutting or re-cutting threads.
