Used these to make a small "press" using 1/2" all thread & some washers/nuts. Rebuilding an old motorcycle & I had to squeeze two pieces (neck cups) into place without them spinning when I tightened the nuts. These worked exactly as I hoped they would & they job went smoothly. Increase clamping/tighten with ease and stop moving the part do to torquing the tool.

Commonly used to allow two shafts to spin on a hub & they work well. Lubricate and assemble and then enjoy. I used these to make a necking device for glass blowing.

They are for very specific applications. Imagine a cylinder rotating in a circle. You can’t. It doesn’t want to. If you roll a cylinder on your table it will not roll in a circle. That’s the point. They lock up under high friction axial loads, but spin somewhat freely otherwise.

First use and the bearing is fine but the washer shattered. I’ve never seen something like that before, makes me suspect of the type of metal used.
