I have only had this up a few days. I am so glad I made this purchase. The battery in my camera was going dead in a few days. It was aggravating having to take it down and charge it. This works great!

It’s a scam. It only worked a few months and the supposed warranty doesn’t exist because there’s no way to contact the seller. Amazon will give you an email but they will never answer so a total waste of money.

This review is simply about the product and installation as I just installed both today. I'll update after a few weeks/months. Today, I'm recommending this product. The price is right, everything you need is in the box (assuming you have basic hand tools and skills), it fits the camera correctly and worked properly on the first try. The box contains all you need to easily install the solar panel. The connector fits the SimpliSafe outdoor camera perfectly and has a flexible gasket around the camera end of the cable that's intended to keep the water out. I purchased one to test, then purchased a second the next day after verifying it actually fit the camera well. Installing the base requires drilling three pilot holes - makes it way easier to turn the screws in without breaking the vinyl siding. To make it a bit easier, I threaded the mount into the back of the solar panel, then unscrewed the mounting base from the panel connector. That allowed me to easily install the base onto the side of the house, then mounted the panel with positioning adjustment arm by just threading it back onto the installed mount. The box comes with appropriately sized cable brackets to allow you to nail the tiny clips down for cable management. A few minutes after connecting the cable and turning on the small power switch that's on the back of the panel, you should get a tiny 'charging' icon in your SimpliSafe app where you have your cameras listed. That charging symbol will only show when the panel is charging the camera - which is an intermittent function. Just make sure your connections are solid and remember to turn the power switch on before putting your ladder away. It took roughly 20 minutes to install and test each one.

Update Dec 2024:I installed three in Dec 2022 and they are still keeping the SimpliSafe outdoor cameras fully charged 365/24/7. I haven’t even touched my cameras since installing the solar chargers.Update Nov 2023:Still going strong after 11 months! All three of my SimpliSafe outdoor cameras have been charged by these solar chargers during the past year with zero issues. Not once have I had to climb a ladder and remove the camera batteries for manual recharge.Original Review:These solar cells are great for keeping the SimpliSafe outdoor cameras charged. I installed three of these in December and all three cameras have remained at 100% most of the time and never fell below 95% charge. It’s winter in the Midwest so temps have been mostly in the 20’s but has varied from -5 to 40’s. We even had two straight weeks of gray cloudy days and these still kept the cameras charged! These solar panels have a built-in back up battery that gets charged before it charges the attached camera. I recommend setting these in the sun for a few days before installing them to fully charge the internal battery first. Also, don’t forget to flip the switch on the back to turn them on.The included mounting screws are junk. The metal is too soft and you will strip them during installation. I recommend purchasing some stainless steel screws from the hardware store instead.

Wanted a camera that viewed the rear of my house mainly to check for any damage from storms or hurricanes when I’ve been evacuated. Obviously it is also good for security reasons. As with all Simplisafe equipment a piece of cake to install. First I trimmed all the branches off the tree that could interfere and enable Spanish moss from hanging down. For the mount I used a piece of marine plywood with cedar shims on the back to ensure a perfectly vertical attachment. Used a sander to create as flat as surface for the board attachment as I could. This was a lot of work! Thought about chainsaw but trying to create a flat surface by cutting vertically seemed to be a recipe for disaster. Recommend using a belt sander. Used 3” galvanized decking screws to attach the plywood then painted with exterior type paint. Used a camera mount instead of the Mickey Mouse magnetic arrangement. Also utilized a camera visor I found on Amazon to protect the camera from rain and inclement weather. Ensured the solar panel had a drip loop on the cable.Charged the battery before hooking up to solar panel. WiFi reaches the tree quite comfortably and I have no issues waking the camera up. Battery is staying fully charged.

7/23- THIRD UPDATE: company sent me a new panel. Changing my rating.6/23- SECOND UPDATE: the replacement panel they sent me died just over a year from receiving it. I contacted the company saying the panel isn’t charging. They’re response was as follows; “It may be that the panel is not working, It needs to be repurchased.,and the warranty period of the solar panel is one year, which has exceeded the warranty coverage.”There’s no reason a equality solar panel should stop working after one year and one month of installation.Based on the quality I would NOT recommend this item and therefore changing my rating to 1 star.UPDATE: company sent me a replacement and it’s working fine. My only complaint is there’s no way to shorten the wire between the camera and panel. Mine are only a few feet apart and there a lot of extra wire that’s hard to hide. Camera is on the front of house and doesn’t look great as people walk by. Took off one star.Original review- Was very pleased with this for the first 3 months. Now, not so much. It just stopped charging the camera. When I plug the camera into ac power it charges. Just doesn’t do it through the solar. Very disappointed. It says there’s a built in battery. Maybe that’s not holding a charge. Not sure if that batteries replaceable.
