I've tried them all, and this product yields the best, most reliable flat coat I've seen, over any surface and any paint brand. I do a LOT of WWII aircraft and armor and this product is an essential part or my finishing process.

I paint a ton of minis and terrain features for war gaming and board gaming. This is my go to varnish. I primarily apply with my airbrush but occasionally use a brush.When airbrushing I thin it with about 25 % Vallejo airbrush thinner and mix it with a toothpick in the airbrush reservoir. I follow each empty bowl with a little water sprayed through to prevent clogs. I usually go behind any paints with a little Vallejo airbrush cleaner but the cleaner tends gum up the varnish.I have read that thinning this varnish will leave a satin finish but I personally have not experienced this issue. I will spray a second coating about 24 hours later.

Make sure to shake the bottle really well. I just brush the varnish on and it dries to a nice matte finish that doesn't leave a sticky residue. Make sure not to glop it on and in case you do use a little too much, just spread it around the model. You may see air bubbles but they seem to disappear when drying. Recommended!

Ich habe diesen Mattlack gekauft, um damit ein mattes Finish fĂŒr meine Flugzeugmodelle zu erzielen. Die Modelle waren teils noch glĂ€nzend, teils seidenmatt oder hatten Glanzstellen durch zu hĂ€ufiges Anfassen. Der Flascheninhalt kommt farblich zwar wie verdĂŒnnte Milch rĂŒber und ist recht dickflĂŒssig, lĂ€sst sich aber sehr gut verdĂŒnnen und somit fĂŒr die Airbrush herrichten. Ich habe ziemlich verdĂŒnnt ( mit Wasser ) und das Spritz"erlebnis" war sehr angenehm. Der Lack trocknet tatsĂ€chlich tuchmatt auf, ohne irgendwelche Fehler oder halbmatte FlĂ€chen. Die milchĂ€hnliche EintrĂŒbung des Lackes verschwindet beim Trocknen und das Endergebnis ist ein sehr schönes, wirklich mattes OberflĂ€chenfinish - das hat mich sehr angenehm ĂŒberrascht: der Effekt ist echt Klasse ! Ein einziger "Nachteil" : bei einem Modell musste ich eine Kleinigkeit nachbessern und mit Abdeckband maskieren ( ist mir leider erst nach der Mattlackierung aufgefallen ). Kleiner Schreck : beim Ablösen des Maskierbandes löst sich die Mattierung teilweise mit ab ! Es kann allerdings auch sein, dass ich zu schnell mit dem Abkleben zur Hand war - zukĂŒnftig werde ich vorher kontrollieren und der Mattlackierung ausreichend Trocknungs- und AushĂ€rtezeit gönnen. Alles in Allem ein sehr guter Lack mit ausgezeichnetem Matteffekt und recht guter 'Grifffestigkeit' !

An amazing value. It gives a dead matt finish, even better than Testors Dullcote. However it provides very little protection. I've had it peel off on a few projects. Don't use it as an undercoat or for anything that will be handled a lot.
