I have been a carpenter for 40 years. I have tried many hammers the Vaughan brand has turned into my must have over the last 25 years. I love these hammers

Awesome balance and well designed head with weight forward. The handle color is a yellow/cream not matching the picture if that's important to people.

Replacing a door and couldn’t find any hammers in the tool box with a smooth peen. My Vaughn hammers have held up well, still have the two I bought 30 years ago. Amazon had it at a good price and delivered it the next day.

Excellent hammer. Hits hard and good luck breaking the fibreglass handle. Great shock absorption. It's a little ugly, but it'll last you a lifetime.

This is my all purpose hammer. Can be used for everything from light framing to some finish work. I often refer to it as my exterior finish hammer, great for exterior trim siding, etc. the rubber hammer is a bit stiffer than the Plumb this replaced, but still feels good in the hand.

I have been swinging this same Vaughan hammer for 30 years. My carpenter friend originally recommended this hammer to me. I still have the original but needed another one for my 2nd tool belt so I went to Amazon. This hammer it great from framing but the milled face is not good for finish carpentry. The milled face helps the hammer hold the nail face better (does not slip off the head of the nail). The milled face can also do damage to soft wood and your thumb if you are not careful. The 20 ounce weight is perfect for use as a remodeling hammer. I have not found many things this hammer will not move with a few goods whacks. After a day's work your arm gets a nice workout. I have used this hammer to remodel many houses and built many decks. The fiberglass handle is very durable. Highly recommend this hammer. Also use these:

Excellent hammer with superb balance. The 16 inch handle, similar to a 22 oz framing hammer, is perfect. 99% of the time I use a smooth faced hammer because I am a Remodeler, and not having to switch hammers between demo, light frame, trim and finish.....is very convenient. So far, this hammer seems to take alot of hard use......but what is really impressive is the comfort and absolutely perfect balance. Even when really swinging hard.......the balance inspires alot of confidence and the handle and grip absorbs almost all of the shock. I used to use steel exclusively.......but since switching to this Vaughan 999.......pain in my wrist and elbow at the end of the day is gone! The feel of wood without worrying about breaking a handle is the perfect compromise between steel and wood. No wonder this model has done so well for so many years. Well crafted tool.....love it.

This is a good finish hammer, Very versatile , it is heavy enough to do white wood and cedar siding and has enough finese to hang doors and set nails. This isn't some whimpy ass finish hammer from home depot but I wouldn't go frame with it.
