I got this as I started building my pistol collection. Along with the mag rack that's available I have these two side by side and I still have room for one more. Absolutely awesome, it just pops right into the footprints that are provided with the MX series and no need to worry about it from that point on. I have a couple of full sized pistols and the first question that a couple of my friends asked was if a long barrel would fit in this pistol rack and the answer to that is yes. I have a 5.5 inch barrel on one of my full sized pistols and it fits in there snug without issue.

I now own three Vaultek safes, and various accessories. This modular unit snaps perfectly into the Vaultek Mx safe. You can mix and match the various modular units to hold multiple configurations of firearms and magazines. Strong injection-molded plastic.

I purchased one of these back in early 2021, and the product listing was called out as "VAULTEK Modular Pistol Rack Non-Absorbent Foam Dual Handgun Storage". It does a great job of holding my handguns and has helped organize my storage of them. The older closed cell foam is very stiff, so there's a good grasp on the muzzle of my handguns. I found that 1911 style frames had a small amount of play, but were easily inserted/removed. Some of my wider framed handguns like Sig P250 and P320's were a bit more snug. It takes some focus to insert/remove them easily without moving or sliding the holder (I didn't use the double-sided mounting tape, as it sits on a carpeted shelf).I decided to order several more of them in mid 2024, and didn't notice that the product listing was slightly different and is now "VAULTEK Modular Pistol Rack Protective Handgun Storage" no longer calling out 'non-absorbant'. When they arrived, I immediately noticed that the foam inserts are now a softer open cell foam. Is that a deal breaker? Depends on what's important to you.The newer open cell foam seems to hold my wider frame handguns just as well as the older closed cell foam, but allows for an easier insertion/removal. I don't have to worry about the holder moving if I don't have a perfectly straight removal of a handgun. See the pics where the older version actually bows the housing slightly with a wide-framed handgun inserted, while the open cell foam version does not. That's something to put in the 'pros' category, especially if this will be used for storage of your immediate protection where split seconds matter, and gear has to function flawlessly.Closed cell foam doesn't easily absorb oils and dirt, so the older model is easier to keep clean. Let's be honest, sometimes a small amount of oil from cleaning will find it's way to the outside of the handgun, so the older foam is easier to wipe that away, as well as any carbon/residue that might be transferred to it too. Open cell foam is going to soak that up and be pretty much impossible to clean effectively. Add that to the 'cons' category.Another factor is long-term durability. I don't have scientific proof, but my personal experience has been that closed cell foam will last longer than open cell foam, if for no other reason than the ability to prevent tearing/snagging. I've found that open cell foam will snag or tear more easily, and compound that with it's ability to absorb liquids, I believe it will be more likely to breakdown from a chemical interaction with oils it may come in contact with. Add that to the 'cons' category. Finally, cost/value. Considering I paid ten dollars MORE for the older version with the closed cell foam, it's nice to see that the lower-cost materials used in the newer version is allowing some of that savings to be passed to the consumer. It's definitely a lower-cost manufacturing with the open-cell version. you can even see in the pic where the foam is not even one-piece for the muzzle support, but two separate foam pieces cut and bonded together (unevenly I will add).Hopefully this helps you choose to purchase or pass on this item. I am going to reshuffle where I use each of the versions I now own, with the older closed cell foam version going on my cleaning table to use for pre/post cleaning storage of my handguns, while the open cell versions will go in my safe and other 'immediate use' locations around the house. Can't give this a 5-star rating, but overall I think 4 is fair. There's room for improvement on both old and new versions.

Great quality and hold all sizes snug. Just wish there was a higher capacity option. Maybe a 6 or 8 slot.

I have the Stack On 18 gun cabinet, and I was using the under shelf hanger type of rods, but I found it harder to position subcompacts on them and it was hard to find the hanging point without extra lighting.I switched to the Vaultek modular holders and they fit perfectly across the top shelf. They’re basically the same depth of the shelf, and four can be positioned across the top shelf with a combined three inches is space on the ends. I bought this double pistol holder and three of the singe pistol with three magazine holder modules. All of my semiautomatics fit firmly inside, even a Glock with a TLR-1 on it.There is a difference in the foam between this module and the combo pistol & mag modules. The foam on this is not your typical type of foam and is smooth, much like the faux leather(vinyl?) covering on some types of over the ear headphones.

This Vaultek 2 pistol holder is amazing! It’s sturdy and feels well constructed. Outside material is hard plastic with high density foam for the inserts. My only “gripe” is that storing my beretta 92x (full size) with a laser/light attached (Olight brand) to the picatinny rail, is a little difficult because the fit is tight. This is due to the foam slot not being wide enough to accommodate the light that well. Therefore, it pushes the hilt of the gun out past the end of the rack itself just a little. The reason why this is an issue is that the door on my safe does not want to close easily when the light is attached (see photos). It might be solved by carving out the sides of the foam a little so I can push the pistol forward more.Otherwise, this rack is awesome. Looks and feels solid. Recommended if you have limited space, or only two pistols.

While the re view of pistol rack is simple it is what is advertised and works. Bought this to fill up my Vaultek MX Safe.I had problems with my safe after several years and when I contacted customer service they were outstanding. They questioned about problem and then asked for me to send a video. The safe would randomly not unlock and had to use backup key. They sent me a label and in short order they sent me a refurbished safe. They are outstanding. Would have bought the pistol rack from the, but Amazon shipping was quicker. You cannot go wrong with any of their well made items.
